Mid season maintenance week - VGR work being carried out over the putting surfaces. 30-40 tons (aprox) of sand worked into the profile to help with aeration, root health & dilute OM levels. Great work from the team to keep the surfaces strong for the remainder of the season.

@Leven_links What are you using for the pearlwort and what rate mate?

The team's hard work continues to shine through. We have had another productive few weeks focusing on refining greens. This included verti-cutting and applying a herbicide to control Pearlwort, which has started to take hold. Overall, surfaces are showing good consistency.

@paulhampsey81 Ha. Yeah it can get tedious. But it’s worth it in the end.

Wee Bit of Mid season maintenance between main events 8mm tonne 9” verti-darin last week, top changer out this week 4” depth 2x2” space approx 35tonne sand applied. Pushing the roots development down and keeping us firm and free draining 😎⛳️🏌️

@paulhampsey81 We use the same tractor as you guys and we can’t get to 0.7 as the revs are too low to vibrate the tray at the back fast enough. We went up a gear/ratio, if I remember correctly. We could do anything from 8-12 greens in a 12hr shif depending on their size.

@CraigJHempseed That’s interesting mate, i’m sure we are around 0.7km it’s painfully slow, we said with this being the first model they were bound to improve the next model and iron out a lot of imperfections, that seems to be the case for you guys 👍

@paulhampsey81 The new one is far better and we are getting double the depth! Pic below. What speed are you going at? For the old one, we upped it from 0.6 to 0.8km/h. It’s a good bit quicker, but you pop the blow-out more often, which I didn’t mind.

@paulhampsey81 It’s an excellent machine when it works at its optimum. We have your one and we recently got a new one. The older one, we always found to have teething issues, but I believe that was more isolated machine as when I spoke to Tom about stuff, it was just us having those issues.

@dodger1874 Ok. Just wondered. We have a similar situation to yourselves at our 2nd and we have gorse coming out of he rock face quite high up. Just wondered how you got rid of it.

Gorse removal continues, stripping gorse from these rock faces that run parallel to the 14th fairway will be a pretty impressive feature once exposed #BraidHills #Gorse #GreenkeepingOnTheHill
