I have my #dclinpsy interview coming up and I’m so anxious about that that it’s honestly making me want to cancel. Amongst the chaos and competition of the doctorate, it’s easy to forget sometimes that we too are just humans with anxieties and fears like everyone else…

@Spectrum0Gaming At the suggestion of one of my PhD students, I introduced a token economy at home for my 7 year old twins while mum was away for a week. I had charts and used Monopoly money. The kids seemed to really like the idea. 1/3

@RT784726441 @JennaUnhinged @joannamoncrieff Critical psychiatrist, not clinical. She has no skin in the game, and is equally critical about other pharmaceutical interventions with no demonstrated clinical benefit (beyond anecdotal evidence).

Matthew Perry is a victim of an industry that exploits desperation. There is no evidence ketamine benefits mental health beyond placebo effects and the drug-induced high. It is a potentially dangerous anaesthetic. An avoidable tragedy! theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…

“The opposite of depression isn’t happiness, it’s vitality.” I often talk about the futility of chasing happiness. In #MaybeYouShouldTalkToSomeone, every patient’s story (including mine) is really about a search for vitality… which leads to a deeper sense of contentment.

Each song is added to the "team playlist", with the winner getting to pick a new song to add. Lots of laughter, singing along, sharing of memories and feelings, and a few tears. All in all, a team feeling inspired, joyous and connected by the end. (4/end)

Play the songs again and ask people to make public their guesses. Then, the song picker is revealed, and shares a story about the song choice. Others can also openly share stories or memories linked to the song. (3)

May have developed my favourite team building activity to date. Would be a shame not to share! Everyone pick a song. Something meaningful, maybe it speaks to a point of time in their life or a specific memory. This can be funny, touching, happy, sad. (1)

Overheard in soft play "it's a turn of phrase! When I said fight your corner, I didn't mean physically fight" as the kid runs off back up the padded slide. Parenting is hard!

@looneyfox1 @Jendaffin Absolutely. I wonder if acknowledging it might allow attention and energy to be directed elsewhere. Maybe towards a source of purpose/vitality?
