BREAKING: Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd has agreed to a new deal with the Wildcats. Lloyd’s deal will start at $7.2m next season and average $7.5m/year for the total five years. This new deal removes him as a candidate for the North Carolina job, a notable development.
Per Pete Thamel, Lloyd denied a phone call with Michael Jordan that was previously reported by some ever happened. However he was very complimentary of UNC. “My Michael Jordan is Steve Kerr,” he said of the former Wildcat star.
Lloyd will be one of the top five highest paid coaches in the country.
Big domino there. Massive news for the Wildcats, and the Tarheels search will now have one less name. Thoughts?

At this point in time, there is no better job for Tommy Lloyd than @ArizonaMBB. If you don’t want to call the Wildcats a “blueblood,” that’s fine. But he’s not leaving for North Carolina or the other “blue bloods” that could open next year. Just spend a basketball weekend in Tucson to understand that.
