The UK built a glass cell for one man: Robert Maudsley, a prisoner authorities considered too dangerous to ever live among other inmates. For more than 45 years, Maudsley has spent his life in near-total solitary confinement, earning the nickname “Britain’s most isolated prisoner.” His crimes began in 1974 when he killed a man who had allegedly shown him photos involving child abuse. While later institutionalized at Broadmoor Hospital, he strangled another convicted offender. Then, in 1978 at HM Prison Wakefield, Maudsley killed two more inmates in a single day. Both men were serving sentences for crimes against children. After that, prison authorities decided he could never safely remain in the general population. They constructed a custom-built transparent cell inside the prison, often compared to Hannibal Lecter’s enclosure in The Silence of the Lambs. The cell reportedly measured around 8 by 10 feet and contained little more than a bed, chair, table, toilet, and a narrow slot for guards to pass food through. Maudsley reportedly spent around 23 hours a day alone, reading books and listening to classical music. By 2025, after spending over 16,000 days in isolation, Maudsley was transferred to HM Prison Whitemoor, though reports stated his conditions remained largely unchanged.

A young boy in Florida was teased by his classmates for wearing a homemade Tennessee Volunteers T-shirt to school. However, his story quickly turned into something amazing. When the University of Tennessee found out what happened, they decided to turn his hand-drawn logo into an official school shirt. The demand was so huge that eager buyers accidentally crashed the university's online store. The shirts raised almost $1 million, and all of that money was donated to an anti-bullying organization called STOMP Out Bullying. On top of that, the university gave the boy a full, four-year college scholarship for the future.

In 2024, a man was killed in the street of Argentina after his partner became jealous over another woman simply saying hello to him. 22 year old Mariano Grinspun was walking through González Catán, Argentina, with his 34 year old partner, Natacha Araceli Palavecino, when a woman greeted him in passing. Investigators said Palavecino suddenly snapped. She attacked the woman first, stabbing her multiple times before turning toward Grinspun. Then she drove a knife into his chest. The single stab wound proved fatal, and the 22 year old died shortly after the attack. The case quickly spread across Argentina as a shocking example of deadly partner violence fueled by jealousy. In March 2026, Palavecino was convicted of aggravated homicide and sentenced to life in prison.

Robert Downey Jr. revealed that Burger King unexpectedly helped save his life after a “disgusting burger” made him throw his meal along with the drugs in 2003, which helped him to become sober. “It was such a disgusting burger I ordered… I thought something really bad was going to happen.” He recalled that this specific "moment of clarity" prompted him to pull over and toss all of his drugs into the ocean. He stated, "I have to thank Burger King," adding, "At that moment of clarity, I tossed all of the drugs in my car into the ocean and got cleaned up". This incident is considered his "rock bottom". Downey said he was driving around with a car full of drugs when the meal suddenly made him rethink everything. He pulled over, threw the drugs into the ocean, and decided to finally clean up his life. That experience later inspired one of the most famous scenes in Iron Man (2008), where Tony Stark returns from captivity and immediately asks for an American cheeseburger from Burger King before addressing the press. What looked like simple product placement was actually a deeply personal tribute from Downey to the moment he says changed his life forever.
