Dear #CricketTwitter As an exercise in Nostalgia, what are the most memorable excuses you can remember that England has offered after a loss, or series of losses ? Mine is Cook claiming Eng didnt have resilience left for the Hobart Ashes test of 21-22 after using it all in Syd.

What you are highlighting here is the slow death of reading culture. Our primary source of information has moved away from print . Was listening to @Cric_pod recently where @VAAChandran was saying how match reports of Ramaswamy Mohan would teach the earnest reader a good word or two . @Cricket_Slouch has also spoken about the proverbial “Quicksand” analogy used with respect to the Kolkata test of 2001. Prose is dying a slow death at the hands of LLMs bleeding one metaphor at a time .

Demanding why other commentators are not picking up such stories is irrelevant. That is not my point, and to be honest many of them also talk about such stories. Nor am I trying to question Ian Bishop's great work ethic. I am asking you, as cricket lovers, to also go and read and celebrate the reporters who make Bishop and other commentators look good on air with great reporting from the ground. You giving them credit does not make Bish look bad, I am sure he would welcome it as a great commentator, and more importantly, as a very decent man.

@RaoDpk @Cricket_Slouch @vmanjunath @Cric_pod @the_hindu @saqiba Vijay Amritraj said, 'Well, the Swiss have complained a bit this week. They have nothing to complain about the surface, food or the hotel. All are excellent. Yes, they can complain about the city of Calcutta. That's something they have to get used to'.

@Cricket_Slouch @Cric_pod @VAAChandran Have a look at this from Bora Majumdar’s book . 11 Gods and a Billion Indians . A leaked Ganguly e mail ✉️- Snehashish was contesting in the CAB elections in 2006 . Ganguly’s iconic status took a beating and he was condemned for being ungrateful.

@vmanjunath @Cric_pod @VAAChandran Reading has become a dying pastime or source of information.. Youtube shorts, Insta reels and Tiktok is where a majority of people get their information from nowadays, and many do not even try to verify the legitimacy what they consume.

@Cricket_Slouch During the lockdown extended highlights appeared on Doordarshan. The travesty of it ; it took a global pandemic for the bcci to re telecast just highlights. Extremely poor attitude from the administration.

It’s a nice episode. Certain moments are frozen in time Mark Waugh lbw Venkatapathy Raju Ball pitching on middle and striking junior adjacent to the stumps - beautiful ball. Them Raju vanishes into oblivion. Venkatesh Prasad gets Hayden to edge one behind but it doesn’t carry

While most are busy with the IPL, @Sportsfan3791 and I went down nostalgia lane to reminisce the 2001 Edwn Gardens test between Ind and Aus, and see if 25 years have dimmed our view of it.. what are your memories of that match ? open.spotify.com/episode/5LBllR…

@tossforagone he stated in one interview that in the 1st match he genuinely forgot it and that delayed him, but as he noticed how much it affected Waugh, he pulled off that stunt to full effect in the 2nd. 😁

Another good point is about how Sourav Ganguly actually forgot his blazer and the place to retrieve it was 15 minutes away . But the delay really riled up Steve Waugh so much and eventually Ganguly managed to get under the skin of the Australians.

@pushkar_g_singh that's the thing about Warney . he was always consistent no matter what.. and he definitely didn't like these sort of things, and didn't get on that well with Waugh.

Steve Waugh always thought cheating was winning. He passed on this deplorable culture to Ponting and company. I respect Warnie more than any other cricketer because he stayed true to himself in this toxic environment. The King!

A controversial moment in cricket history. #OnThisDay in 1995, Steve Waugh claimed a disputed catch to dismiss Brian Lara on 65. Waugh juggled a cut shot multiple times as he tumbled forward, but replays later showed the ball had touched the ground. Despite the doubt, Lara paused briefly before walking off, marking one of the most debated and decisive moments of the tour. “If I had doubts, I wouldn’t have claimed it,” Waugh said later. Australia won the test by 10 wickets.

@Cricket_Slouch He’s unforgettable 🤣. Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.

@Cricket_Slouch @thefallingsweep @saqiba Warner and his wife are two despicable human beings. They don't belong to this city or the country. They have no place in a civilised society.

@VAAChandran @thefallingsweep i am glad you said that.. now you have no high ground to direct any criticism at the South Delhi boys @saqiba the NSW sophistry was seen in the way Warner conducted himself and allegedly tasked the uncouth newbie with the job of sandpapering a ball.
