Every Airway Has Two Challenges One is getting the tube into the trachea. The other is protecting the patient's physiology. The best airway plans account for both.

The Biggest Airway Mistake Happens Before The Laryngoscope Every airway begins with a decision. That decision shapes everything that follows. Here's the framework behind safer airway management. 🧵

Many airway algorithms start with equipment. This one starts with physiology. Before choosing a device or technique, determine whether your patient can maintain oxygenation. That single assessment guides the rest of the airway plan. Here's a practical framework to help.

Whenever you see different heart rate values for ECG (🟩) and pulse ox (🟦) You need to look closely at the ECG and pleth to figure out which is accurate. An art line can help too. In this case the ECG is over counting by 3:1.

As a mentor, nothing makes me happier than getting a quick update email/text out of the blue. It doesn't have to be epic. It could be as simple as "passed step 1" or "loving my surgery rotation" or "applying in cards." It's great hearing from people you've helped along the way!
