In March, a foreign worker from India (student turned permanent resident) got 5.5 months of house arrest for using her position as a Walmart cashier to help her friends steal $7000 worth of merchandise. "Immigration consequences" was one reason for the light sentence.

@hellowo63335565 Lmao, intellectual property isn't even a thing in China, and China does all it can to steal and spy on US companies. Seeing Chinese diaspora complain about "stolen" culture is hilarious

@nic_carter @QuasLacrimas @avidseries Libtards would rather defend crony capitalism and scab labour than limit immigration and allow even the most basic, obvious, harmless, political self interest of Americans.

"model" immingrant here - the best kind of immigrant you could possibly want. pays tons of taxes started businesses, etc etc. it's completely valid for native americans to want to shut down legal immigration after the neverending H1B scandal. H1B was obviously a mechanism to undercut native high skilled labor. it went terribly wrong. and it's fine to hit the pause button. it was a garbage system. go yell at the architects of H1B, not the heritage americans complaining about it.

Not a day goes by where I don't think about how Vince Li, the man who beheaded Timothy McLean on the Greyhound bus in Manitoba, served less than 7 years in a psych facility & now walks among us completely free, completely unmonitored, allowed to change his name to William Baker,

BELGIUM: A 30-year-old refugee from Afghanistan sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in a public swimming pool. His lawyer argued: "A conviction would ruin his future. He had never lived among free women before and doesn’t know how to behave around them.”

Dairy Queen in my city used to be a 20-something manager and a bunch of teenagers my entire life. Now it’s a grown ass adult family of Indians. It’s dirty, gross, slow, and you can barely understand them. Why? Why are they here? Why? I want to know why.

Shaq reveals he tracked down his biological father who abandoned him and found out he lived 40 blocks away the whole time "My mother said you should connect with your biological father. I called my uncle who's a cop. He said, 'You ain't gonna believe this, you know that restaurant we eat at all the time? He lives in that building'" "There was always a chef there who'd start crying when he saw me. He said, 'I'm Joe's best friend. I just hope one day you come down here and y'all can eat'" "He's 40 blocks away. I went to meet him. He said sorry. I said, you don't need to say sorry, everybody has their problems"

Another day, another insane judicial ruling, and a good response from Premier Ford. An Ontario court has ruled that the Region of Waterloo cannot clear a 30-person tent encampment from a parking lot it owns to build a major transit hub. Buried in the decision is that the court declared homelessness an analogous ground under s.15 of the Charter. A "constructively immutable characteristic." A "discrete and insular minority." This argument has been tried before and failed, including in this very case, three years ago. If this holds, every municipal bylaw that differentially affects homeless people faces Charter equality scrutiny. The court went further, ruling the region cannot use its own land unless it first provides an alternative legal encampment or "tenting protocol" with equivalent services. Elected officials passed a bylaw, amended it, dropped fines and offered housing plans. None of it mattered. A single judge overrode all of it and made himself the region's chief housing policy-maker. The Charter has become not a shield against state overreach but a sword by which courts dictate municipal governance on questions that belong to elected governments.

WATCH: Ontario Premier @fordnation blasts an Ontario Superior Court ruling that bars the Region of Waterloo from clearing a Kitchener encampment needed for a major transit hub project, calling it "the most ridiculous ruling I've ever seen.”

@woke8yearold In Hong Kong a six-day/week live-in housekeeper/cook costs about $750/month. I used to work at a large multinational company and the US employees a few years out of college would work for a year or two in the HK office and have a live-in. Labor is cheap in Asia.

For the same reason that people in the West stopped having servants around the turn of the 20th century. The West is rich, so employing humans is expensive. Cars started off as a luxury while many middle class people had servants. Now it’s reversed. A lot of the time what people mean when they talk about QOL abroad is there are a lot of poor people to employ as servants
Lauren Chen@TheLaurenChen

Why are restaurants so expensive in the West? I'm honestly asking. In Asia people eat out almost every day, there are options cheaper than cooking for yourself. But even "street food" is expensive here. I paid $17 for 4 tacos out of a truck from a guy who spoke no English.
