Sharing an old favorite: In this 2020 video for @nasa_eclips, I share my passion for working with farmers around the world, especially in #Africa. I use @NASA satellite data to monitor crops from space, and my love for hiking, photography, and travel supports my work.

Our team didn't just collect data—they pushed through obstacles that would have stopped most projects in their tracks. Long days, difficult terrain, and unwavering commitment to quality.

Farm level data collection is integrated with #EO and #ML for near real time maps and crop statistics that feed into planning. The approach captures as many smallholder farms as possible that satellite monitoring is limited on.

@ZvikoDM @milsat_africa @CLNakalembe @HarvestProgram @hannah_kerner @LacunaFund @CropsHelmets is to partner in scalling up the methods in more countries and support government and other actors collect precise information.

Machakos county agriculture dept. collects information in key stages of crop calendar for planning and advising @kilimoKE on food production. Photo: Mr.Muli Cosmas an extension officer from Kathiani using Helmet GoPro. Field data is key in forecasting and for planning.

Machakos county extension officers-Kenya used GoPro Hero 8 to collect field monitoring data for reporting of crop conditions and ML crop mapping. There is reduced crop performance due to dry conditions in many areas like Kathiani.
