@RickBieber81 I have not. It’s enough of a challenge to get people to believe the soils have capacity beyond their own.

@Cropwise1 Totally agreed … Do you recommend a “Total Nutrient Digestion” soil test? It shows the your ‘total portfolio’ of nutrients Or PLFA test? This shows the ‘worker pool’, who make unavailable nutrients held in your ‘total portfolio’ become available Informed nutrient decisions

Fear is a preservative, not a nutrient. The real flex in nutrient management is knowing what you've got and how to get the most out of it.

@_TheMizzouTiger @rodgrisier1958 Interesting rationale. Your dumb ass neighbors buy farms too. Buying more doesn’t make a person the best at what they do. You do you.

It's a disgusting perversion of the truth and strategic fear mongering when a national retail chain publishes the following, "Cutting back on key nutrients like phosphorus and potassium will shortchange future crop yields and hold your yield back from reaching its full potential".

Had a client ask about removal rates after he sent in samples from the fall. I started deep diving…you might consider doing the same if you’re into the whole “removal and build”rates scenario. Food for thought at least … I❤️🌽 farmdoc.illinois.edu/field-crop-pro…

@Cropwise1 @rodgrisier1958 Planning to do some testing this year on P and K. A base shot cost about 10 bushel. Betting it pays in spades versus not spreading anything.

@logue_phil I understand that point of view. I’m curious how you put a value per acre on fertilizer? Not cost, actual value. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts.

@Cropwise1 As long as the net value per acre is the same , I'll go with whatever works. We are about making $ on our own bottom line. Not another company

@FarmChicJodi @Cropwise1 Old 40 year old test that doesn't mimic what is found in nature. Just because you put it out there doesn't mean it's plant available. Doesn't matter what your ppm number is if it isn't in a plant available form it doesn't matter.

@FarmChicJodi @SassYFarmwife Now you’re speaking my language. There also has to be air, moisture, temperature and a microbiome operating at its highest level for maximum throughput!

@Cropwise1 No doubt about it. We have made good with our old ways but in order for everyone to stay in this industry there needs to be some evaluations. Being honest hasn’t made me rich but has kept me busy 😉

@pete_90210 You should be proud of yourself and your willingness to change. It’s a beautiful thing about us humans. the first step of recovery is admitting there’s a problem. That’s my entire point. Let’s stop perpetuating the nonsense.

It’s basically a “critics review” of the results based upon the outcome it’s trying to accomplish. So you can imagine, that movie, could very easily have many endings. What’s my point? There’s a lot going on with soil test and in soils beyond the extracted numbers and the recommendations may not be focused on the ending you are wanting.

@Cropwise1 are no longer mining what's already in the soil? Isn't that why we do soil tests????

@FarmChicJodi The extraction methods (camera lense) we have for the soil tests only tell a small portion of the story. We’re trying to measure a perfect system with imperfect tools but it’s what we have available. When a computer makes a recommendation,

Good question! Soils naturally contain nutrients we need for crop production. The best way to think of a soil test is like it’s a snapshot in time of an ongoing movie in the environment. There are highs and lows, environmental and soil properties that affect the movie over time

@Cropwise1 No way I’d cut sulphur. It makes N work better during stress and yield response is quite good in corn. Beans need it to and along with boron. Gotta get off that syngenta genetics and see what real yield potential is. Haha.
