I am a medical doctor, a military and history enthusiast.

This isn’t entirely correct. Cefuroxime is the generic name while zinnat is a brand name. The doctor knows the reason he prescribed zinnat instead of unbranded cefuroxime. Let’s try to always be transparent in our medical practice. Rocephin is more efficacious( broader coverage, longer half-life and tissue penetration) than Biophin or even plain Ceftriaxone while they’re all Ceftriaxones in the 3rd generation cephalosporins. Just explain that zinnat is more expensive than unbranded cefuroxime. If they have money for that, they can pay, if they do not, you can then tell them about the unbranded one and know if the doctor would go with it.
