@dionyjinsus I kind of feel like that's what happens in the book....Lestat reads it and shreds it in anger, but they're separated at that point and once they reunite he does seem to kind of view it as Louis' feelings at that time (which he knows were bad). Like he doesn't like it but 🤷

bc idk maybe im too much of a romantic but i think if louis had said “hey i was in a really bad place and i was hurt and angry but the book doesn’t reflect how i really feel” i do think lestat would have taken it. maybe not gracefully, maybe not without a little baby tantrum

the final nail in the coffin wasn’t the book itself it’s that louis lied by omission and then downplayed what turned out to be the worst version of it lestat could see. it’s louis’ own passivity and own willingness to stick his head in the sand about it that got them here

@dionyjinsus It was an escape for her in that house, but god couldn't he have used an escape too!! He was trapped as much as her. And it's such an agonizing limitation for him. Armand zeroes in on it the instant he reads his mind.

okay no i have really strong feelings about the illiteracy don’t get me started it’s such a fucking cruel way to limit a child do you understand how much of the world becomes locked off to you if you can’t read do you understand how dependant it makes you on the people around you

@witchbabyy I love them 🥰 I'm sooooo glad the chronicles end with them, with some kind of revisiting of so many characters and some hope. I love the journey over multiple decades of books from the hopelessness and loneliness of IWTV to the community in Blood Communion

I said this to my mutual but I think having Lestat mark Anne's book specifically with "this bit is true" is a clever little metatexual tongue-in-cheek joke. Anne's IWTV book is the OG canon so it's "true" & Daniel Molloy's IWTV book is not, so it's full of "lies"

@drculasdaughter Literally nothing they've shown of Gabrielle looks anything like Gabrielle to me (so feminine presenting, dressed up, involved in Lestat's life as a modern vampire). But I'm trusting in a misdirect until the episodes come out 🙏

I love IWTV and I’m so glad it’s not an awards bait show bc it is leaps and bounds better than a ton of the awards bait shows I’ve seen and awards are not a measure of quality anyway and I think more ppl need to have this mindset tbqh
