We have introduced the Citizen Initiative Act to put Albertans in the driver's seat of our democracy. Following the last federal election, I committed to doing everything within our power to fight for a fair deal for Alberta, and to give Albertans a bigger say over major issues.

Any leader willing to disregard the duty to consult in pursuit of separatist politics is not defending Alberta, they are undermining the rule of law, dishonouring treaty relationships, weakening reconciliation, and attacking the very foundations upon which Canada was built.

This is deeply concerning. Bad actors in our democracy are a danger to us all. Yet Danielle Smith and the UCP government have still failed to take meaningful action to protect Albertans from the potential threat this data breach poses. It is time to put politics aside and act in the best interest of Albertans. Yesterday, the UCP voted down Bill 210, introduced by the Alberta NDP, legislation that would have provided Albertans with basic credit protection services against fraud and identity theft in the event of a data breach. Summers in Alberta have become one wildfire after another due to dry conditions. In spite of this Smith is granting approval to massive data centers that require large quantities of water to function. She is not bothering to complete environmental impact assessments. 🙄
