@doyalikedagss Not really about upside with Bryce they just need a functional floor raiser for now as the 4th OF. Don’t want to put that on a guy with no MLB experience in that spot when you don’t need to. If an injury happens sure call him up but no need to risk losing depth for no reason.

I just dont see the upside with Johnson compared to Bowen. No one gonna claim him anyway and if they do so what

Jase Bowen crushed a 106.4 mph home run against the Mariners yesterday, going 1-for-2 with 2 RBI. A two-sport star out of Ohio who turned down Michigan State football, Bowen put up a 20-20 season in the minors with routinely high exit velocities and quality contact from the right side. Plus speed, a legitimate stolen base threat, and he can play all three outfield spots plus first base. Now with the Padres, the tools are loud. My favorite part of the WBC from a Padres fan perspective was someone like Ron Marinaccio getting into the highest leverage situation he’s ever gotten into. He’s never pitched in the playoffs before but this situation was playoff like. Invaluable experience for him.

We have optioned RHP Ty Adcock to Triple-A El Paso and reassigned LHP Jackson Wolf and INF/OF Samad Taylor to minor league camp.
With today’s moves, we now have 51 players in Major League camp.
