Finally published: We asked 334 physicians what they think about human preservation post-death. Among other surprising results: the median estimated probability for future revival was 25.5%!! That is much higher than a lot of emergency operations that are being done daily. (disclaimer: physicians likely didn't do an in-depth analysis). The future of cryopreservation will not arrive as one giant breakthrough. It will arrive through better cryoprotectants, better perfusion, better rewarming, better facilities, better models, and better proof that biology can survive colder and longer. At Vitalist Bay, our co-founder Eli Mohamad announced the @spacebiostasis Coalition: a new push to make biostasis part of the future of long-duration human spaceflight. If humanity wants to become multiplanetary, rockets are only one side of the problem. The biological side is just as hard: keeping humans, organs, tissues, and embryos viable over time, across distances, and in extreme environments. CryoDAO is already funding parts of that future through projects like CryoRat, our high sub-zero small-mammal preservation and revival project, and space-mouse embryo cryopreservation work. Exploring our solar system will require biostasis to advance just as much as longevity will🥶🚀

I'd like to share an exciting upcoming event: The Biostasis Summit at Vitalist Bay (Berkeley, CA), May 14-17, 2026. Co-organized by the Cryosphere Foundation, this is one of the largest and most substantive gatherings in cryonics today. If meaningful work is happening in this field right now, many of the people doing it will be there. I'll be giving a short lightning talk at the event.
