The Middle of Ohio has had sightings of phantom panthers since the 1940s, but in June of 1979, a couple from Westerville found cat-like tracks in their backyard, which they plastered. Experts concluded the prints were from a dog, though the couple did not accept this conclusion.

A report from the Naturalist’s Notebook (1869) claims a strange creature was caught in a rabbit snare near Castle Slane, Ireland. It was described as cat-like, but with the face of a weasel, sporting four tusks and a mane of dark hair. It is called the Saunders Mystery Animal.

According to one man, back in 1953, he saw a large black cat in Abbots Bromley, in Staffordshire, England. To his horror, the cat rose on two legs, standing around 5ft tall. It then dropped back to the ground and ran off.

A hybrid of a bear, a panther, and a hyena, it is also known as the Northern Devil Cat, and is known for its horrifying screech. According to legend, the animal is blind and can only use its sense of smell to find its prey. It can also wipe memories if you stare it in the eye

In 1995, a truck driver driving through Fife County, Scotland, reported seeing a large cat, and this was followed by 20 more reports from other residents. One witness even videotaped the cat. The theory at the time was that the cat was a pet cougar released into the wild.

In September of 1981, the town of Truro, Massachusetts, was terrorized by a mystery mauler, who killed pets and livestock. Reports of a strange creature surfaced, including one that was described as being fox-like with a rope-like tail

The Slender-Billed Curlew is one of the rarest birds on earth, found around the Mediterranean. The last authentic sighting was in 2004, leading some to think it is extinct, though there was one sighting in 2006

Located inside of Earth’s largest mangrove forest in Tanzania are reports of a massive crocodile, said to leap out of the water and steal prey from passing boats. While sightings were active during the 20th century, there have been no recorded sightings in recent years.

Inaccurately called the Alkali Lake Monster, the Walgren Lake Monster is a salamander-like monster seen in Hay Springs, Nebraska. Legend states the monster was created by Satan and could make the earth tremble. Skeptics claim newspapers invented the monster.

Discovered on Google Earth, on Duffy Lake Road in British Columbia, the photo shows a bipedal, armless creature running away from a google car. The car captured nothing else, but the image has gained popularity on Twitter.

The Ningen is a Japanese cryptid supposedly seen by researchers in the Antarctic. Though the legend began in 2012, people claim that Ningen have been captured on Google Earth in 2005 in the Southern Ocean and a 2010 Youtube video.

It was discovered in 1933, yet dropped off the face of the earth afterwards. No photograph of a living specimen has ever been produced. However, evidence for Miss Waldron's Red Colobus Monkey survival has surfaced over the years, such as a tail and skin collected from hunters

In a 1917 letter, a gardener told of his father’s encounter with an Earth Hound while plowing a field near River Deveron, Scotland. It was described as rat-like but with the head of a hound. Earth Hounds live near churchyards, where they feed on fresh corpses.

In March of 1868, miners at La Ternera, Chile reported seeing an unusual flying creature, said to have the head of a lobster, tail like a snake, and mix of feathers, scales and hair. The story was published in the journal, The Zoologist.

On May 22nd, 2011, people around Joplin, Missouri claimed to have seen Butterfly People after a deadly tornado devastated the town. Some claimed Butterfly people protected their kids during the storm, and a mural was erected of the supposed creatures.

In mid October 1972, multiple people reported seeing a semi-aquatic creature swimming in Edo River, Japan. One man photographed it in 2010, though this could have been a bag of trash

On September 25th, 1843, construction workers over Inba Marsh in Japan saw a 16ft aquatic humanoid emerge from the mud, summoning thunder and killing 13 of them. The murder is contested, with some saying this was a misidentified seal.

In Maori mythology, the Hakawai was a large, sacred bird that belonged to the gods of the winds. But since Europeans colonized New Zealand, there have been stories of strange noises coming from the woods, specifically Muttonbird Islands.

The Gaueko is a spirit of Basque folklore that punishes people who stay out after dark. It normally takes the shape of a cow; however, it is believed to be a demon. His presence is known by a gust of wind and the whisper of words.
