managing your money 101: from "growth" to "capital preservation" the first 2 questions that financial advisors ask you when you give them a mandate to manage your money are: 1) do you want your portfolio to be conservative, moderate or aggressive? 2) what is your time horizon based on the answers, they adjust the amount of RISK they put in your portfolio, mainly adjusting the share of stocks (normie aggressive) and bonds (normie moderate) the answer for almost everyone in crypto is: 1) ULTRA aggressive 2) one cycle, so roughly 2 years everyone in crypto is trying to make it in crypto in a cycle. when make it means you make over $1 million or 10x your portfolio, you have no choice but to go ULTRA aggressive in your portfolio allocation, i.e. all in crypto, high share of alts, often investing in low FDV coins as upside is much higher but there is no such thing as a free lunch in an established industry. yes, there are arbitrage opportunities and asymmetrically good returns at the beginning, but it always fades out as more participants enter the market we are currently at the end stage of this cycle, where it's important to make a conscious switch in your investment strategy from "high growth" to "capital preservation". even if you didn't make as much money as you wanted to i would not continue with the same growth strategy as before as the risk level at this stage is too high once the bear market starts, alts drop 50% within a week, you won't make it out of there unscathed in the capital preservation phase, you need to DERISK: - dca OUT of your positions - stop buying super risky stuff like memecoins or alts - if you stay invested, be in safer assets like btc (not eth or sol) or normie assets - start thinking about YIELD, e.g. anything above 15% annually without too much risk is great - consolidate your portfolio so you have a perfect overview personally, 10% of my portfolio will remain in "high growth" while 90% of my portfolio is already in "capital preservation" i only roundtripped my first cycle. lost everything. in the second cycle, i sold a little bit early (around $2.8k eth), but i made life changing money and live good since this cycle, i didn't perform as well but i still made a few million and i don't plan to give it back
