I'm starting to come to the conclusion that the current state of on-chain trading is an absolute joke and not really worth participating in. I usually try to keep my views open and balanced. There are infinite ways to make money and generate an edge in crypto. But it's becoming harder and harder to argue in favor of being a trench participant. Over the last 2 months I tried to dive as deep as I possibly can into this world. I've experimented with virtually every strategy and tool out there. I've made money deploying coins, trading new pairs, buying "cult"'coins, being an insider, and every thing in between. I've also lost plenty of solamis doing all of the above. I really tried to give this side of our diverse casino a chance. But the reality I've come to accept is that the only players that are consistently profitable are sitting together in a voice chat all day and slaughtering sheep they've cornered on X, Telegram, and Twitch. It's not trading. It's not even gambling. It's just former fortnite players and credit card scammers farming the hopeful and unaware. Between this and the minesweeper game of blatant rugs, scams, MEV bots and a plethora of other hostilities, it seems like the only winning move is to not play. Seeing someone hit a 100x or 1000x shouldn't inspire you. It should scare you. The reward center of your brain is blissfully ignoring the reality of probabilities. It's the equivalent of seeing a lottery winner on TV and thinking "that could be me". I've generated significantly more returns just trading coins like FARTCOIN, SPX, and USELESS once they hit critical mass adoption and received perps listings. I could be jaded. It could be a skill issue. But I'd rather aim for realistic returns than spend 16 hours a day scanning CAs just to end the week breakeven or worse. Go ahead and roll the boulder up the hill. Just know for 99.9% of us, it's always going to roll back down. Do you want to make money or do you want to be right?

Portfolio performance: January 2026 portfolio: +9.73% btc: -21% altcoins: -26% spent almost 600 hours on the new infra over the last 4/5 months. I feel like I've moved forward more in this time, than the last 2 years put together portfolio is achieving some of the targets I set last year (still early to tell): - beta vs btc: -0.098 - beta vs altcoins: -0.064 - btc max dd: -23% - altcoins max dd: -28% - portfolio max dd: -7% still a lot to do, I am still trading a relatively low pool of truly diversifying strategies, and need to add more. there's a few things to weed out on the current models that I need to think through. big focus on strategy development. I've been spending a lot of time on infra, which is fine, I had to set up all the non-existent processes to be able to handle the scale I want to achieve. but now we need to speed up strategy development. I am failing there. I have said this multiple times and something always comes up that takes priority. a lot to do. just getting started.
