Slow reps are not old science. The best bodybuilder on the planet Mike Mentzer was performing his reps super slow I would say. And how far he went with this? He went that far that nobody can beat him to this day it’s not even close. Perfect score of 300 points at the bodybuilding show I don’t remember the name specifically. It is all about minimizing the outside momentum as much as possible.

@velvet_lol You can load so much more weight on the eccentric than the concentric, it’s minimal extra mechanical tension, most motor units will be recruited on a heavy concentric

I swear calves are the hardest muscle to build. Mine started growing after I actually started training them seriously. I started doing: • Training them 2-3x a week (mostly 3x) • 2-3 sets till failure • 8 - 15 extra slow reps with a full stretch at the bottom • I rarely do them with full range of motion. I usually do half reps, staying at the bottom under tension • Progressive overload • Exercise: standing calf raises on the smith machine (way better than seated) • Stretching calf exercises
