Today, Google Research published a paper that every cryptocurrency holder needs to read. Not tomorrow. Today. WHAT GOOGLE JUST CONFIRMED Google’s quantum research team has officially demonstrated that the elliptic curve cryptography protecting most of the world’s cryptocurrencies can be broken by a quantum computer using fewer qubits and gates than anyone previously thought possible. The numbers are staggering. Their compiled quantum circuits can break ECDLP-256, the cryptographic foundation of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and virtually every major blockchain, using fewer than 500,000 physical qubits in a matter of minutes. That is a 20x reduction from previous estimates. The threat did not just become real today. It became closer, cheaper, and more inevitable than the entire industry had calculated. THIS IS NOT FUD. THIS IS GOOGLE RESEARCH. Google has been working on post-quantum cryptography since 2016. This paper was not written to cause panic. It was written to raise awareness and push the industry to act responsibly before the window closes. They even developed a zero-knowledge proof to verify their findings without giving bad actors a roadmap to exploit them first. That is how seriously they are treating this. Their 2029 migration timeline is not a guess. It is a deadline backed by the most advanced quantum computing research on the planet. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR EVERY MAJOR BLOCKCHAIN Most blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies currently rely on ECDLP-256 for critical aspects of their security. That is Bitcoin. That is Ethereum. That is Solana. That is almost everything the world currently trusts with billions in value. Google confirmed it directly, viable solutions like post-quantum cryptography exist but they will take time to implement, bringing increasing urgency to act. Ethereum has announced 7 hard forks to achieve quantum resistance by 2029. Bitcoin has no clear migration roadmap. Most chains are still calculating how to begin. The 2029 deadline is not the moment the threat begins. It is the moment the window closes. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR QNET QNET does not use ECDLP-256. QNET was built on CRYSTALS-Dilithium3, a post-quantum signature scheme standardised by NIST specifically to resist the kind of attack Google just described in detail. Not as a future upgrade. Not as a planned hard fork. Not as a response to today’s news. As the original architecture. From the very first block. Before Google published this paper. Before the 2029 deadline was announced. Before the industry began scrambling. The developer who built QNET alone made a decision in March 2025 that the entire cryptocurrency industry is now being told it must make before 2029. QNET already made it. THE STORE NOW DECRYPT LATER REALITY Google’s paper also confirmed something even more alarming for existing blockchain users. The threat is not only future tense. Adversaries are already collecting encrypted blockchain data today, storing transactions, wallet addresses, and private key exposures, waiting for quantum computers powerful enough to decrypt them. Every transaction ever made on a classically encrypted blockchain is a potential future vulnerability. QNET transactions are signed with Dilithium3 post-quantum cryptography. They are not vulnerable to the attack Google just described. Not today. Not in 2029. Not after. THE BOTTOM LINE Google just told the world what QNET was built to solve. The question is no longer whether quantum computers will break classical blockchain cryptography. Google answered that today. The question is which blockchains will be ready when they do. PocketChange Protocol ($PCP) What It Does PocketChange is an automated money-making machine that lives on the Solana blockchain.
