Several popular handguns — including most Glocks — could soon be illegal to buy in Maryland under a bill banning pistols that can be easily converted into machine‑gun‑style weapons.
The legislation targets illegal conversion devices known as auto sears, or Glock switches, which allow a handgun to fire continuously with a single trigger pull. Law enforcement officers are exempt, and dealers may still sell the firearms to out‑of‑state buyers.
The Maryland State Police are expected to publish a list of prohibited models. After clearing both chambers, SB 334 now heads to Gov. Wes Moore’s desk. If signed, the law would take effect Oct. 1.
