Vandaag met Kroonprins Mohammad bin Salman al-Saoed van Saoedi-Arabië gesproken over de laatste ontwikkelingen met betrekking tot het conflict in en rond Iran, en de recente escalatie. Daarbij heb ik mijn solidariteit betuigd met Saoedi-Arabië. Iran moet stoppen met aanvallen op civiele infrastructuur van de Golflanden, waaronder olie- en gas installaties. En het is van groot belang dat Iran de blokkade van de Straat van Hormuz zo snel mogelijk opheft. Tot slot spraken we kort over de goede en historische banden tussen onze landen en hebben we afgesproken de komende tijd in contact te blijven.

Deze mevrouw is me er eentje hoor. Blij dat er eindelijk eens een beetje door wordt gevraagd.

Dit vind ik schokkend. D66 minister Elanor Boekholt-O’Sullivan geeft in buitenlandse krant een interview. Waarom dit een doorkijk is naar een ondemocratische samenleving van die gevaarlijke partij D66: 1. De militaire bestuursstijl als politiek model Ze gebruikt herhaaldelijk haar ervaring uit Defensie en Afghanistan als referentiepunt voor civiel bestuur. Dat kan stevig en daadkrachtig overkomen, maar ook als een manier van denken waarin: 🔹discipline boven inspraak gaat, 🔹schaarste gebruikt wordt om gehoorzaamheid te legitimeren, 🔹burgers impliciet worden benaderd als een bevolking die gestuurd moet worden. Dat is niet automatisch totalitair, maar het normaliseert wel een command-and-control-benadering. 2. “Luxe kost tijd” als legitimering voor normverlaging Die slogan suggereert dat kwaliteit, comfort of individuele woonwensen iets bijkomstigs zijn. Politiek is dat riskant, omdat het de deur opent naar: 🔹lagere bouwkwaliteit, 🔹minder rechtsbescherming, 🔹minder inspraak, 🔹en het idee dat burgers zich maar moeten schikken. Dat klinkt al snel als: de staat bepaalt wat “goed genoeg” voor jou is. 3. Inspraak en bezwaar neerzetten als hinderlijk Het artikel noemt lokale eisen en bezwaarprocedures een duur en onwenselijk “lappendeken”. Dat kan deels terecht zijn, maar in een democratische rechtsstaat zijn bezwaarprocedures ook een bescherming tegen: 🔹willekeur, 🔹slechte ruimtelijke planning, 🔹aantasting van leefomgeving, 🔹en machtsmisbruik. Wanneer zulke waarborgen vooral worden geframed als obstakels, krijg je een technocratische logica waarin snelheid belangrijker wordt dan legitimiteit. 4. Burgers vragen “iets op te geven voor de gemeenschap” Dat klinkt op zichzelf redelijk, maar het is een klassieke formule waarmee staten vergaande sturing kunnen rechtvaardigen. In dit stuk gebeurt dat op drie niveaus: a. minder woonruimte accepteren, b. minder vrijheid in energiegebruik, c. meer aanpassing van persoonlijk gedrag aan systeemdruk. De formulering blijft gematigd, maar de onderliggende gedachte is duidelijk: collectieve schaarste rechtvaardigt gedragssturing. #maatregelen 5. De wasmachine ’s nachts als symbool van leefstijlsturing Op zichzelf een klein voorbeeld, maar politiek symbolisch groot. Het gaat niet alleen over netcongestie; het gaat over de gedachte dat de overheid steeds verder het dagelijks leven kan binnendringen: 🔹wanneer jij stroom gebruikt, 🔹hoe jij woont, 🔹hoeveel ruimte jij hebt, 🔹wat jij als normaal comfort mag zien. Dat is geen totalitarisme op zichzelf, maar wel een paternalistische en potentieel doorgroeiende logica. 6. De “token”-anekdote uit Afghanistan Zij zegt expliciet dat Nederland niet naar muntjes voor water of douchebeurten moet. Toch is het veelzeggend dat ze juist dát voorbeeld gebruikt om schaarste en gemeenschapsdiscipline te illustreren. Dat roept associaties op met: 🔹rantsoenering, 🔹quota, 🔹centrale toewijzing, 🔹en conditionele toegang tot basisvoorzieningen. Juist omdat ze het voorbeeld zelf op tafel legt, is het logisch dat lezers denken: dit schuurt richting een distributiestaat waarin de overheid steeds directer bepaalt wie wat wanneer mag gebruiken. 7. “Ik ben niet onder de indruk” Dat klinkt daadkrachtig, maar ook nogal minachtend richting sectorpartijen, lokale overheden en bestaande instituties. In combinatie met haar “schone lei”-houding suggereert het: 🔹weinig waardering voor opgebouwde checks and balances, 🔹een neiging om weerstand vooral als inertie te zien, 🔹en een bestuurlijke stijl waarin tegenmacht minder serieus wordt genomen. D66 en haar regenten zijn voor mij telkens weer mensen met vergaand vrijheidsbeperkende gedachten. Because the FED will not be able to cut rates while gasoline prices are driving inflation. As for the stock market: Energy companies (Exxon, Chevron) are rising on the back of high commodity prices. While the tech sector (Nasdaq) and airlines are falling due to rising energy and logistics costs. High inflation leads to FORCED LIQUIDITY TIGHTENING. And this puts heavy pressure on $BTC, as it is the NUMBER 1 RISK ASSET. Right now, we can observe cascading liquidations of BTC longs. And if, in the next 4 days (Trump’s ultimatum deadline), a miracle does not happen and the deal is not reached, Markets will price in a PROLONGED WAR scenario. Iran has already given a clear answer: "Until the U.S. lifts all the sanctions and pays the war damages, the war will continue".
