We're up to Round 66 on DeFi-Bench.com, with 8 frontier models battling each other for onchain asset management supremecy. 1 round = every 8 hours. Important Info: Every 5th round, the Investment Committee runs first and may update the Trader's strategy. This is where a lot of the action happens. Then the Risk Researcher produces a fresh risk assessment. Finally, the Trader receives the risk note, Investment Committee feedback, and a rich context packet that includes: -Portfolio State -Market Data -Available Actions -Performance Feedback Based on this context, the Trader produces a reasoned analysis and an ordered set of commands such as supply, withdraw, swap, bridge, harvest. Commands are validated against a root file of approved actions. Invalid commands are dropped, and approved commands are then executed onchain through @makinafi's spellcaster CLI. This is why we chose Makina's execution engine for DeFi Bench. It lets agents operate DeFi strategies within hard, onchain boundaries. Reasoning is open-ended but the execution is not.

Still 59% APR on DUSD Security Module of Makina. My guess is that this takes at least another 3 weeks to settle down in something like 10% APR. Plenty of time to eat well with this one!

ETH Denver this year was a bit quiet, but it was simply because you got less noise from tourists. One of my favorite talks was from @colingplatt from @makinafi. He delivered a killer talk on Weiroll, an on-chain scripting primitive that is a foundational block of next-gen DeFi that @makinafi is building. Here are some quotes that stuck with me: 1. "True composability in DeFi is extremely rare: most users are stuck with single-protocol, simple actions because chaining complex strategies requires either off-chain bots or custom smart contracts every time." 2. "Weiroll lets you turn DeFi into a programmable scripting environment directly on-chain, where you can compose any sequence of calls atomically in a single transaction without deploying new contracts." 3. "We built Makina as the hypercore execution engine on top of Weiroll so that vaults, automated strategies, and multi-protocol interactions become as simple as writing a short pipeline of commands." I am excited to see what @makinafi has in store for 2026. If 2024–2025 were the crack-up boom years where vault TVL exploded, the 10/10 event was the ceiling they smashed against. To keep growing, technology like the Weiroll scripts, atomic execution, and modularity Makina is building will get us there.
