In early 2024, I started to dig into Firedancer and the game-changing potential in terms of reduced latency and increased bandwidth. I reached out to the smartest engineers I knew – both from my TradFi and HFT days, to talk about how Firedancer can be optimized. What I discovered is that for Firedancer to reach its full potential (while still being respectfully decentralized) very different tradeoffs must be made. And if you were to build this from the ground-up, smarter decisions could also be made to solve some of the existing issues plaguing today’s L1’s – while creating an environment more familiar to the professional trading community. We assembled an elite team of independent contributors to design and build an L1 that pushes the boundaries of performance. That L1 is called Fogo.
