Baby weasels develop fast once the kits start eating solids! 🥹 …Though, the first few weeks do, admittedly, drag on f o r e v e r due to how frequently they need feeds and how sensitive their GI tracts are. So milestones like this are always encouraging during rehab; it’s like I can feel myself already becoming slightly more rested. 😅 This infant long-tailed weasel may look like a forever baby because adults usually top out at under half a pound, but don’t let the painfully adorable face fool you - weasels are seriously impressive little predator animals! They eat a huge amount for their size, provide excellent natural rodent control, and honestly, if one is hanging around your property, there’s a very good chance it’s because the rodent population is growing - or too large already - too. 😅 They are HUGELY beneficial to have around your property! Also, for those of you who own domestic, outdoor, small prey-type mammals - ESPECIALLY during “baby season” - if I could tell you one thing to focus on to protect your small animals and to not put our native predator species in a situation to be loathed, it would be this: Hardware cloth > chicken wire, always, and don’t forget that predators can both fly AND dig in, too. 👏🏼 #wildliferehab #weaselcare #naturalrodentcontrol #predatorproofing

Good morning Apple lovers! A little behind-the-scenes to start the day; hoping this’ll put a smile on your face!
I know this may come as a shock, but… Apple’s actually NOT a perfect angel all the time. 🫢
As a matter of fact, she actually flips a switch very quickly, and when she bites, she doesn’t really get the whole “hey, I don’t necessarily need to bite with full force every time” thing. And for some reason whenever she goes in for what I know is meant to be a play bite, I believe it hypes her up so much that it quickly escalates into a type of resource guarding aggression (super common and foxes with prized possessions). So, she’s actually mildly terrifying in a piranha-esque sort of way with those tiny, needle point baby teeth. 🤣
My sister, Lizzy, popped over for a few minutes to help with some animal chores, and you can tell by that final rump scratch she gave Apple that she knew exactly what she was doing - she knew that would escalate her to the boss-level of hype mode. 🙄 Haha
Sometimes I describe the mentation and behavior of these hydrocephalic babies as “feeling both happy and angry feelings really BIG”, but thankfully, she also gets over her moods just as fast.
She’s just a sensitive gal, what can she say. 💁🏻♀️

2. The narrative is crazy. Hydrocephalus is a deadly condition that requires early care. This cute lil fox is only a few weeks old. Our fees could directly save her life and many other red foxes. We are literally part of her journey.
3. Kim is one of the only creators I’ve seen that genuinely takes the time to understand crypto and us degens without passing judgement.
