Darkstalker got away with jumping between 3 PoVs because it was mostly telling one story.
Here it’s three stories and the chapter breaks frequently kill the momentum and the pacing.

Finished Dragonslayer.
I love the protagonists and Sky, but oh my god, the plot was so boring I’m sorry. The way the book ends makes me think there’s going to be another book.

I finished The Poison Jungle
So far this is the best book in the arc. Sundew is an amazing protagonist and I love her relationship with Willow!
AND THE VILLAIN IS…A PLANT??? That’s kinda disappointing but whatever.

It might not be the worst but it's the most boring. At least in Fates there's intriguing premise and it was failed attempt at making something interesting. Engage feels like no one even tried. I had to force myslef to not skip cutscenes on first playtrough

Better Ash, better developed team and friend group with just as fun a dynamics.
BW has more rivals who are fun in a group, but it also has Trip and Cameron who were poorly handled.

If this was the real end, I would be mad that half of the Sinnoh Team became the biggest disappointment, Ash's reserves rotation mostly being HGSS slop, & Ash's feats being a downgrade... (1/3)

@JEM__stones That’s true from a power scaling perspective, but from an emotional perspective, Paul blows Brandon out of the water.
Brandon was ultimately just a strong trainer, Paul challenged Ash’s principles so him winning feels like a better climax.

...compared to the Battle Frontier. Especially the last point as clearing trainers comparable to the Elite 4, to a tournament of Victory Road caliber for a 4th time is not as hype

@Yugiman101 DM is unrivaled not just in main villains but also side ones.
Other series have individually better villains, but not a whole cast.
Zexal comes the closest, but ruins too many of them with rushed redemptions.

Blue is the protagonist. Nothing special I can say about him tbh but he’s okay. I really like his relationship with Cricket.
