Something happened during Cohort II of @3MTTNigeria in Makurdi that I’ve never really shared. During Cohort I, @SKYHubNigeria was facilitating tracks like Software Development, Data Science, AI/ML, and Cybersecurity and we teamed up with @Cs3Ng to co-manage fellows to ensure proper structure and delivery. When Cohort II started, we were initially assigned Software Development and AI/ML again. Cloud Computing wasn’t part of our first allocation. But then something changed. After almost a month of back and forth between the Cloud Computing fellows and their previous training provider, the entire group was redeployed to Skyhub Nigeria. That’s where this story really begins. Juliet was one of those Cloud Computing fellows. She hadn’t even started her tech journey during Cohort I. By the time she heard about 3MTT, the first cohort was already ongoing. Many people would have said, “I’ve missed my chance.” Juliet didn’t. She waited for Cohort II. Before tech, she had tried several things. Different paths. Different attempts. Nothing seemed stable. At some point, her family genuinely didn’t see the vision in this “computer work.” But when the Cloud fellows were redeployed to us, I noticed something different about her. She wasn’t loud or flashy but was very consistent. Even after the confusion of switching training providers, she didn’t lose momentum. She often stayed back after sessions, practiced labs repeatedly, asked deeper questions and she even failed quietly and retried patiently. Cloud Computing is not an easy entry point, especially when you’re just settling into tech for the first time. But resilience is louder than talent. And when you identify resilience, you invest in it. Fast forward to 4 months after her cohort ended. Juliet secured a role paying nothing less than $300 monthly while still living in Makurdi. No relocation. No connections. No shortcuts. Just skill meeting opportunity. For many, $300 may sound small in global terms. But in Makurdi, that’s proof that you can earn globally competitive income from home. And suddenly, the narrative changed. The same family that once doubted began asking questions. “How did this cloud thing work?” and “Can you help others learn it?” Juliet isn’t alone. Several fellows from Cohort I and II across Software Development, AI/ML, and Data tracks have grown into earning opportunities, freelance projects, and structured career paths. But Juliet’s story stands out because she started amidst uncertainty such as training provider changes, family doubt, late entry into tech. And she still broke through. That’s what Skyhub Nigeria is about. Not just running programs but identifying resilience, building competence and turning disruption into opportunity.
