@ptrschmdtnlsn My experience is that for more complex boards (200$ per board for pcbway/jlc, 15pcs), the same job in the US would cost around 700$. We were prepared to pay that, but China shipped in 4 days and US 3 weeks. We have our own pnp machine, order mouser parts, and boards from China.

I asked a major US PCB shop for a quote, and now 17 days later(!) they finally got back to me. They want $2700/board, where JLCPCB will do about $90/board in qty 5 in half the lead time, and an instant online quote. We must improve our manufacturing, as a country.

PCB design with AI has mostly been gimmicks we built Cradle (@cradledev) to make it practical watch me generate a 24V reverse polarity protection circuit and export it to KiCad you stay in charge. the AI handles the tedious work join early access: trycradle.dev

I believe that the adoption of technology and dissemination of scientific results depend strongly on the use of open solutions and not expensive, licensed software. I hope to have demonstrated their power here. Once the framework is user-friendly, it will be on Github (soon).

We had to make sure that the mechanical strain created by the mesh unfolding under its weight and the organoid pushing on the mesh was minimal. This was simulated with non-linear shell elements using @fenicsproject and interactively inspected with @Blender 's powerful UI.

Glad to share our preprint on Kirigami-inspired electronics to interface human brain organoids : biorxiv.org/content/10.110… This was large interdisciplinary effort with my co-author @XiaoYang63 and other colleagues in the labs of @Sergiu_P_Pasca and @BianxiaoC
