The California Surf Lifesaving Assn. (CSLSA) presented four Medal of Valor Awards and 14 Heroic Acts Awards to Ocean Lifeguards and Marine Safety Personnel from across the state.

Congrats to CA State Lifeguard II Benjamin Sweet who received on Weds the Governor’s Public Safety Medal of Valor Award for his act of heroism, rescuing a surfer in 15-20' surf near the Ventura Pier. The CSLSA honored Sweet with its MOV last year.

Kickoff Spring Break with the Huntington Beach Junior Lifeguards, a week-long class running from April 14 to April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. This class is open to kids ages 9 to 17 and introduces them to beach and ocean safety. Participants will also learn lifesaving skills, enjoy beach games, and have plenty of water time—the full week capstones with a major swim event and first aid skills development.
