making Tyrion “too good” in the show completely ruined the point of his character. Book Tyrion is fascinating because he’s bitter, hypocritical, cruel and slowly becoming the monster the world always treated him as. That’s what makes the line “I wish I was the monster you think I am” so powerful. It feels like the exact moment he starts giving up on being anything else. Meanwhile Jaime’s story is the exact opposite: a man everyone thinks is irredeemable slowly becoming more human. They were supposed to be mirror images of each other. One climbs toward redemption. The other falls away from it. And I honestly think the show lost something really important when it refused to let Tyrion truly descend
