@Cubex69 that's what i was thinking too, getting something like a r5 9600x would be a pretty good boost and they're still supporting making chips for it

Posting about this again after looking into it more, my two options are either:
Upgrade to AM5 and sell my i5-12600k/z790 mobo
Or
Keep the intel cpu and swap out the mobo
Still would need a different case but i figure if i’m buying a new mobo, switching to AM5 would be good

Building a new pc to save space with an matx case is kind of appealing but idk when i'd get to do that. Thankfully i'm good on the more expensive parts (ram/storage/gpu) so i'd just need a new case/mobo/cpu. Probably hinges on how easy it'd be to sell the parts i dont need
