@m_takewaka Eating horse in the US is taboo, but we understand some cultures do eat them; it's just not something for us. Eating dogs on the other hand, we would think any culture that does that are barbarians.

@danryokumeshi In America, we don't put much on top of eggs, usually just salt and black pepper. A lot of people like to put hot sauce, salsa or ketchup on top of their eggs.

It seems my replies are being seen by the Japanese, but my posts are not. So I hope this reaches the people of Japan. I'm an American. Born in Mississippi and raised in Florida. I'm about as southern as they get. Guns, trucks, BBQ - you name it. However, I want the Japanese people to know how much impact their culture has had on my life. I wouldn't be where I am today, if it wasn't for the Japanese. I genuinely don't know if the Japanese realize how much their cultural exports have impacted Americans. It's much more than the Sony Walkman or Nissan motorcycles. An American born in the 80's and the 90's, Japan has influenced every day of their lives. I was born in the early 80's. My earliest memories are sitting at the kitchen table during summer break, reading through a Legend of Zelda guide while eating a packet of Maruchan instant ramen. Nintendo and their games had a massive impact on my life. As a kid that heavily bullied in school, I could play a game, made by the Japanese, to feel like the hero that I couldn't be in real life. Video games, especially Nintendo games of the 80's and 90's, gave me an escape. They also inspired me to draw and write. I remember the first time I played Final Fantasy IV (which was released in the US as Final Fantasy II), it was a life changing experience. As the 90's rolled forward, we had things like anime finally come to our shores. Akira, Ronin Warriors (Yoroiden Samurai Troopers), Ghost in the Shell, Oh My Goddess! (Aa! Megami-sama), and others were hard to come by. You had to go to specialty stores and order bootleg copies, if you wanted to watch Japanese media. I remember buying bootleg copies of The End of Evangelion off of eBay to be able to see it. I look back on my childhood and realize that some of the most important moments of my life were from something that was made by the Japanese. Now Japanese media is widely available and so easy to access, but as a kid in the 80's and 90's, you had to work and pay lots of money to be exposed to it. On top of that, back in the 80's and 90's, being a fan of these things were something people would make fun of. Now that's no longer the case. Americans grew up with Japanese media and were shaped by it. Watching Vegeta, in Dragonball Z, grow as a character is now a moment of nostalgia to many American adults today. These adults are now engineers, doctors, and lawyers. This doesn't even touch on the food. Even today in the rural areas of America, you can get access to quality ramen, sushi, yakisoba, Kaiseki, and other cuisines. I live in a rural area and we had a sushi place where the head chef was a 90 year old Japanese man that had been making sushi his whole life. It was my favorite place. He has since died and I will always miss papa-san. Every time I visited he would give me Japanese candy. You may not know it, but your culture has had a massive positive impact on Americans. Our best memories comes from products made and produced by Japan. We have always wanted to let you know this, but the language barriers always prevented it. Now, us Americans can finally write the love letters we've always wanted to tell you since we were children.
