An update on 4v4 Quads placement matches:
Some players have noticed that they started 4v4 placement matches at a lower MMR compared to other Competitive Playlists they play in. For placement matches, we normally start players at Diamond, Gold, or Silver MMR levels, depending on their skill level (high MMR players start placements at Diamond, etc.)
Earlier today, we temporarily turned this bucketing off for 4v4 Quads while we investigated several broader issues with Competitive matchmaking -- some of you noticed this temporary 600 MMR starting position. However, the normal placement match bucketing has now been turned back on.
While some players may start their 4v4 Quads Competitive season at a lower Rank than normal compared to where they play 2v2 or 3v3, the majority of players will complete placement matches and achieve Rank as intended.
We apologize for the day one thrash, and we're looking forward to seeing more of your feedback on 4v4 and its two new Arenas in the coming days and weeks.
