Hey cryptographers and security researchers across the 🌏
Starting Jan 1, 2027 and for the next 10 years, I’ll personally award my Top 3–5 most impactful cryptography, security & blockchain papers from the previous year.
Not the papers with the most citations or the flashiest math necessarily, but the ones that genuinely changed how we build, secure, or understand our systems… at least based on my understanding and views.
Each team will receive a medal 🥇 and a small cash prize from a family office.
Why???
Every year, I typically review or study papers selectively from the top cryptography, security, and blockchain venues, including CRYPTO, EUROCRYPT, ASIACRYPT, IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, USENIX Security, NDSS, CHES, PKC, TCC, FSE, PETS, AsiaCCS, FC, AFT, ESORICS and a few others.
The last few years I constantly check how Meta, Alphabet, Apple, Visa and co are using their cryptographers. Unfortunately I ended up believing that we need incentives for brilliant minds to stay in the cryptography and security field vs being swallowed by AI 🤖…
we need a balance, the quality is decreasing ending up into low quality AI reviews of security proofs, it feels like a demographic crisis in the software research industry as a whole, eaten from the inside and the local maximums.
