Kirk Lacob, Warriors' Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, on roster construction and balance: "Going forward, I think Steph has said this, we've said it, Steve has said it, like, yeah, we need to have somebody else who can help Steph out there and create offense. That said, it also looks really great when you got all these guys who are able to play with Steph in a very specific way. So we've had to balance indexing those things and obviously last year was not probably the right balance. I think we even knew going in, we were going to try to address that and then the injuries happened, and you lose a little bit of an ability to make some of those moves on the fringe . . . I mean, I can go through the whole of what we need. We need more creation. We need more shooting. We need more bigger, defensive wing types. We need more guys who can finish at the rim. We need more guys who can defend in space, but we also need guys who can defend at the rim. I think every team feels this way. There's always something missing from your roster, you just hope that you have the better option than the other teams, that your guys stay healthy, and they're at the right time in their careers, and all that."

Do we know that path could be hard? Yeah, we know that. At the end of the day, you still got Steph Curry, you still got Draymond Green, you still got Steve Kerr, you got a chance. We got to help all of them as best we can to give ourselves an even better chance and that's going to be the goal this summer, as it was the goal last summer. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. The track record is pretty good overall, but it's not perfect. Like in anything, there are mistakes. There's bad luck that happens. There's bad decisions that happen. You try to learn from them. You try to win. But if you're asking like in that meeting [with Steve Kerr], yeah, we're still trying to win a championship.
