@xenzez @BeardedKiryu There’s a difference between being close minded and wanting a series you like to not jump the shark.
If you played or even watched a playthrough of Kiwami 3, you’d also know that the issues are not just on Sega, i.e. Yokoyama’s Daidoji timeline. I think revisionism is very bad.
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu If you consider the games bad just because they want to go a more fantasy direction then you are insanely close minded.
Bringing up a publishing decision when we're talking about the content of the games themselves makes no sense to me. Are you incapable of separating the two?
English

@xenzez @BeardedKiryu Blind acceptance is how we got Kiwami 3.
I guess I’m just supposed to accept that they want to make bad games now?
Was delisting Yakuza 3 also part of their artistic vision? By your logic I am just supposed to accept that and move on.
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu No amount of complaining will change the direction that the creators want to go with their own art. You have a right to complain, but you do have to accept that the change is here to stay.
There will be other grounded RGG games, but Yakuza/LAD is now leaning on fantasy.
English

@xenzez @BeardedKiryu I don’t have to accept anything. Even if it wants to go more towards fantasy, we as fans are allowed to criticize that direction and be unhappy with it. Pirate Yakuza is emblematic of that direction which is why it rightfully receives much of the hate.
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu But at this point you have to accept that it's the route the series wants to go, it wants to lean towards fiction. You can't accept Infinite Wealth but not accept Pirate Yakuza atp. It's fair if you want Yakuza to stay the same, but it's going to keep steering into fantasy.
English

@xenzez @BeardedKiryu And it was still a questionable choice in that game too. The immortality rock criticism applies to both games.
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu Like the setup for Bryce being immortal was already there in IW...
English

@xenzez @BeardedKiryu Majima is a serious character that can be silly. Diluting him to a “wacky” character seriously misunderstands his character arc.
Pirate Yakuza does try to be serious at the end with the “white whale” symbolism and the ending cutscene about Majima being there for Kiryu
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu And a serious Pirate game, with Majima as the protag??? Would've been even weirder imo. He's a wacky character that deserved a wacky entry.
English

@xenzez @BeardedKiryu I do think that a canon game in largely story and character-driven game series should expand upon the story and characters, yes. If it doesn’t do that, why bother making it?
Let’s not forget this game also has immortality rocks, a literal Kraken, and an ungoverned pirate society
English

@CurveNastyJr @BeardedKiryu Does a game rlly have to be productive to be canon?
Just give them the option to mention the events, or bring back characters. It doesn't have to progress any overall story or develop characters. There's nothing that insane that happens in this game, you fight a shark in IW...
