Today, we were able to take part in extending and connecting water lines inside the shelters so displaced families could access water more easily and with greater dignity. Seeing water finally reach people in the middle of all this destruction is a feeling beyond words, especially when you truly witness the suffering they endure every single day. What hurts me is that while I try, alongside others, to help people survive these conditions, my own family is suffering silently too. My elderly father is diabetic, my mother suffers from severe back pain, and my little sister Zein, who has cerebral palsy, is growing weaker day after day because of malnutrition and the lack of proper care in Gaza. Yet we continue moving forward — cleaning shelters, fighting the spread of disease, helping families, and trying to protect children from living among filth, rats, and sewage water. We are exhausted, but we refuse to give up.
