This Friday-nite news dump follows revelation of Tino's full name today in @bostonherald after retired judge used his nickname in a whitewash report of the unraveling coverup of fatal MV accident caused by trooper assigned to Democrat Middlesex DA Marian Ryan's office. "Tino" was drinking at a bar in Woburn w/Sgt. Scott Quigley, now suspended w/out pay, before Quigley was involved in a fatal head-on MV in his unmarked cop cruiser in Woburn in Dec. 2023 at 5:12 p.m. At Lahey, Quigley's BAC level was recorded as .114 -- well above the legal limit of .08. Investigating trooper was ordered by MSP brass not to go to the hospital to see him post-accident. (She waited 8 days to talk to him.) She ended up writing a mere warning, not even a citation, for Quigley, a second-generation MSP "legacy" -- when he was involved in a fatal accident after which he tested .114 alcohol level in a hospital blood test. Quigley returned to work for more than 2 years as investigator for DA Ryan in major criminal cases, suffering zero consequences for the death. Marian Ryan, the embattled 71-year-old DA running for reelection, now insists she knew NOTHING about her guy's alleged OUI, even though at least 2 in her office were gossiping about it, per report. Investigating MSP trooper, Sgt. Jen Penton, has since been indicted & charged with involuntary manslaughter & perjury in a different MSP scandal, in Worcester. Sgt. Anthony DeLucia, another trooper in DA's office who knew about Quigley's alleged DUI homicide, was suspended (with pay) on Wed., the same day Tino was placed on Restricted Duty. These unpublicized moves were made by MSP after the judge's very light look at the scandal (paid for by Ryan's office) was quietly released. Tino was on the tow unit until he wasn't. In their announcement, in response to questions from Herald, the MSP pointed out that multiple probes of this latest scandal continue. Of the 3 troopers most directly involved in the fatal MV (that we know of so far), all were promoted by MSP soon after the death of the 37-year-man being transported in a van for the disabled. DeLucia and Penton were upped from sgt. to lt. & Quigley was promoted from trooper to sgt. Atty. for dead man's estate, Michael Mahoney, told me yesterday on @howiecarrshow that he's demanding that the bar where the 2 troopers were drinking before the fatal accident turn over receipts of the cops' credit cards from the evening of his client's death. Mahoney asked whether a DA's office Christmas party might have been taking place that nite -- Dec. 12. DA and MSP managed to keep this scandal totally covered up for 25 months, until late Jan. 2026.
