@theryandreyer So you don’t care that he’s the ultimate playoff underachiever, the only player to win an MVP and never make a conference final. It’s that thinking that is the reason why he’s never been to a conference final.

The Sixers just beat the Celtics. Came back from down 3-1 to do it. They've been getting their ass kicked by Boston my whole life. Lost what feels like 100 series over 15 years. None of it matters now. Because they got one. You don't need to win everything. You don't need to win most things. You just need one. One win and your whole story changes.

WHEN HEALTHY, Joel Embiid is one of the best basketball players we’ve ever seen. If he never had any injuries, he’d legitimately be a Top 25 player in NBA history. Philly is decent without him. Philly can win the NBA Finals with him.

@Cwh2029 @NickyZzZz1 @theblockspot Nobody would ever say Julius Randle has had a better career than Embiid. What are we doing here? One player in that draft that is close is Jokic and he was on nobody’s radar and went 41st. Sixers nailed that pick. Could not have made a better pick

Since when can’t fans be allowed to celebrate winning the first round of the playoffs ? You know, the part where you have to win to literally advance and get closer to a championship. I guess we’ll just sit quietly next time 💀

@Cwh2029 @NickyZzZz1 @theblockspot Go back the last 20 years and tell me how many 3 picks had better careers. Maybe one or two tops - it was not a back pick. He’s a big man- they always have to deal with this. Tell me who they should have drafted instead.

@Cwh2029 @NickyZzZz1 @theblockspot You think they should have drafted Dante Exum instead? How’s he doing? Embiid is an MVP, multiple all star, 1st team etc etc. it wasn’t a bad pick. He just keeps getting injured

@Cwh2029 @NickyZzZz1 @theblockspot It doesn’t matter - had Embiid been healthy that series never goes to game 7. That my entire point- he’s never been healthy for a playoff run one time- not his fault at all but it’s a fact.

I actually heard someone on @SportsRadioWIP say with a straight face that the purpose of the Process was to beat the Celtics in a playoff series. I thought it was to win a championship and get out of the second round…

Talking shit is part of sports Twitter. The truth is, some of y’all make it personal and attack people. Don’t do that shit. Keep it about sports.

I’m seeing two types of trolls emerge: 1) salty Celtics fans mocking “ya’ll acting like you won the finals” 2) spineless Sixers front office loyalists/burners mocking “and we did all this without McCain” Both are profoundly, pridefully ignorant perspectives. The Sixers have had a run of some of the most heartbreaking/mind-numbing postseason exits imaginable for 4 decades, amplified during heightened expectations post-Process. If you’ve watched Sixers basketball since 2017 post-Process, you know we never, ever win this type of game. Certainly not against the Celtics. But look at this season specifically. This past offseason, after a complete bummer of season, fan morale low and usual suspects calling to trade Embiid & George, there were a small group of us who saw a chance to make a run in a wide-open Eastern Conference. I tweeted as much within days of OKC winning the Finals, before the Sixers got a massive consolation prize in VJ Edgecombe. And that post aged wonderfully through the early months of the season. The Sixers were playing fun, energized, winning basketball. Every game was must-see-TV with a top 4 playoff seed within reach. Even the often-pessimistic casual fans were starting to believe. A major turning point came when Joel Embiid publicly pleaded with ownership and the front office to be buyers, not sellers (to dodge the tax, as they’ve done before) at the trade deadline. He wanted help to make a deep run. Reasonable request, right? Not for Josh Harris & Co. They rejected Jo’s request, traded sophomore sharpshooter Jared McCain to the reigning champs. The fan anger and frustration was never about one player. If Harris/Morey honored Embiid’s request, and McCain was part of a deal that improved the roster, we would have been pumped. Instead, the move was the start of a gnarly regression, compounded by key injuries and lack of roster depth to adequately compete. They fell from competing for a top seed to staring the play-in tournament in the face (which is where they ultimately landed). Everything spiraled out of control, capped off by the big man being rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy just 10 days before their eventual Game 1 series matchup in Boston. Dr. WebMDs on here claimed he had no chance of retuning for the series. Talking heads were speculating whether the Embiid era in Philadelphia was over. I, along with a few others, maintained that if Embiid can play, he’ll play. He defied odds for a Game 4 return (17 days off the surgery table), and I was among the least surprised to see it. He went on to dominate Games 5-7 with one of the ballsiest statement/legacy runs in franchise history. So yes, given the dramatic context, this was much bigger than a first round upset. It’s a series and individual comeback that will be discussed for a long, long time. Does the series upset and heroic individual comeback exonerate Harris & Co. for ignoring Embiid’s deadline pleas to improve the roster? Absolutely not. Once again, the big guy played through pain and fresh surgery scars, put the team on his back, and gave everything he’s got for our city and our passionate fans. We love you Jo. Go Sixers. #SellTheTeam

Don’t want to hear any 1st round crap. Sixers were down 3-1. They were blown out multiple times. They took down a Celtics team 3 times in Boston. A team many felt could win the East. A franchise that has haunted us for decades in the postseason. You’re not gonna downplay this.
