@Cybermatron I'm hoping that this place collapses to be honest, but I've decided I won't be moving to Mastodon, I put too much energy and effort here, and I just can't begin to imagine doing it all over again.

@technollama But you may find that people follow you soon enough. And maybe some people are still on here because they don’t have access to people like you over there. It’s a chicken and egg situation.

@technollama I get that. So maybe start be doing what others do and cross-post for now. Not everyone needs to make a radical cut just yet.

@technollama So I really hope that you come over as soon as you feel that it’s achieved an appropriate level of safety as well as critical mass.

@technollama I understand your and others’ need for safety and the reluctance to join an overwhelmingly white environment. But a) Twitter was once like that and b) unless some people take the first step, everyone will be stranded here, dependent on the whims of a lunatic.

And I hope that those, who actually know me, know me well enough to believe me when I say that my whiteness is the least of my reasons for leaving. Nor, from what I have seen so far, is that the case for many others already over there.

But I could really do without the constant condescension regarding people’s motives for planning their exit. I am white, but it isn’t all that I am.

I don’t want to come across as patronising or dramatic but if the events in the UK over the last few years have shown us anything, it’s that what we as human care about, or are made to care about, is not always equal to what we should be caring about.
