A few days before the Anambra State U25 Rapid Tournament, I had the opportunity to train with a pro chess player, Omesu Miracle 👑♟️
Now here’s the funny part… 😅👇
When the pairings came, I was playing against the very same coach, and I had the black pieces.
🧵🧶A thread…
To stay physically fit and build strength, you hit the gym. But your body can’t function at its best without a healthy mind… and that’s where Chess comes in 😊♟️
Chess has always fascinated me, and I’ve always wanted to test my abilities in an actual physical tournament...
Chess is brutal.
You can play perfectly for hours and ruin everything in seconds.
That’s how the 1st Anambra State U25 Rapid felt sometimes 😭♟️
Finished with 7.5/11, tied for 4th.
Respect to @titanschessclub and @cyntoco_chess for the amazing tournament 🔥
One of the funniest chess moments I’ve seen 😭♟️
My friend @IwuagwuX travelled from Abuja to Anambra for a chess tournament.
Transport alone:
₦95,000 (about $68)
That doesn’t even include feeding, accommodation, and other expenses.
As @titanschessclub always says:
“Chess is the gymnasium of the mind.” 😊
And honestly, I think everyone should try this kind of gym. Your brain needs exercise too 🧠♟️
Looking forward to participating in more tournaments ahead 😊
Checkmate ♟️🫵

Checkmate ♟️🫵
Of course, I still had one very painful loss caused by a silly mistake 🥲😂
But I also delivered one brutal checkmate with a rook beautifully assisted by my knight 😈♟️
I played a total of 11 rounds .... won some, lost some, and learnt from all. One of the Chief Arbiters said something that stuck with me:
“In chess, there’s no true loser. The person who loses learns something new, and that itself is a win.”
That perspective changed a lot for me
