This photo shows 58 cyclists and just two cars. MPs looking out of their window today will see a steady flow of people cycling, some for the first time in a while, given confidence to do so with quality infrastructure. Just over 10 years ago there wasn’t even a cycle lane here.

This week, @Hullccnews hosted the Transport Traffic Safety Roads Conference. 60 delegates discussed a range of issues, including tyre safety 🛞 engagement when developing highway schemes 🛣️ and how engineering solutions help reduce road traffic collisions 🚗 #RoadSafety

@hullfair @CycHullCity @Humberbeat @cllrmikeross @Hullccnews Not necessarily on either point. Regardless, I'm sure most cyclists would be happily ride give pedestrians room if the council actually supplied safe, good quality cycle infrastructure... which they rarely do, and is the point of this.

In its current form, the draft LCWIP is NOT the transformative plan that Hull needs to promote significant modal shift. It prioritises commuting routes, despite only 29% of cycle trips being work-related and places too much emphasis on maintaining the car-centric status quo.
