🎗️September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month🎗️ And we’re thinking of all the children and families who have received a cancer diagnosis and those who are tragically no longer with us 💛 🎗️1,900 children (up to the age of 15) are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. 🎗️88 different cancer types have been diagnosed in children. 🎗️84% of children now survive their cancer for 5 years or more. 🎗️2 in 3 survivors will have a long term side effect related to their cancer treatment, which may affect them in later life. 16 year old Thomas was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2023. His mum says, “His CFC bike has enabled Thomas to be more independent and get himself to band practice with his brother again. It just feels more normal again for them to cycle off together without always being dependent on a parent. It’s picking up life again where we left off and feels good. I was hoping for normality, independence and increased stamina and having the bike has enabled all of those. I think his physical confidence is improving and generally he is getting back into his other outdoor activities too which just makes him stronger, fitter and more like himself again. “Home Sweet Home - Olivia got home this afternoon and the first thing she wanted to do was to go out for a bike ride. While she was in hospital her sister had a new bike from CFC too, so they were both very excited to go out on them together. After being practically bed bound for nearly 3 weeks, I’m so surprised that Olivia’s legs were so strong enough to cycle! She did so amazingly 🫶 A very wholesome afternoon”. How about this for a challenge! 8 year old Harvey is cycling 100 miles on Saturday, from London back home to Warwickshire for CFC! The ride is the culmination of many months of support and fundraising from the entire family, who have raised a staggering £4,400 in total! 🎉 Harvey will be riding with mum, dad and gran, so it will be a real family effort and a big challenge for them all. She’s done it! They've done it! Congratulations to the 20 property professionals of SLR #CycletoUKREiiF who have cycled more than 400kms and climbed more than 4,700m (almost the height of Mont Blanc!) from Newport to @ukreiif in Leeds over three days, raising funds for @CyclistsvCancer.
