I predicted this exact thing would happen, though they're going about it differently than what I predicted. Rather than quietly ignoring the Sequel Trilogy until they can shuffle it under the rug forever, they're going to use the "World Between Worlds" introduced in Rebels to physically remove the Sequels from the timeline. Officially turning them into an AU directly via the lore.
It's still a rumor, but it's one similar to rumors that Avengers: Doomsday will be used to sever phases 4-6 from the timeline. Preserving the films without letting them further taint the setting.
You can expect similar drastic measures from major franchises looking to save themselves over the next few years.

New painting from a recent suggestion. In 1997 a fissure near Pillan Mons erupted on #Jupiter's moon #Io. It Produced huge amounts of lava that reached a nearby caldera Called Pillan Patera creating massive lava falls almost 3 km high. I tried to depict this event here.

I’m just going to say it: I love an English rural posho. Obviously they irritate me like mad with their matching floppy haircuts and odd tweedy outfits, and the sense I have that they are all having great Lady Chatterly style sex in muddy fields where they don’t even take their wellies off, and the decades of inherited suburban middle-class resentment that lie deep in my blood. But I still really like them. They are familiar and fun, and mostly really friendly (unless you’re a fox).

Luke Skywalker’s stand on Crait in The Last Jedi (2017) had the whole theater locked.

Something that breaks my heart as a Millennial is how fucking optimistic and fun our teenage years and 20s were. Like we envisioned a TOTALLY different world from the one that we've got and insanely divorced from what Gen-Z are experiencing. Its hard to put in words how fantastic we thought life was gonna be and how it seemed like we were making tangible social progress. We've had all of that ripped away from us.
