TLDR: In the future, the World Cup should have 32 or 64 teams, with the top 2 in each group advancing to the KO stage. GD should break ties on points.

I initially liked the idea of H2H here and I generally prefer it over GD, but incorporating H2H in a group of four teams doesn’t work.
The final matches of the group stage were mostly dead rubber and boring, because a lot of things were already decided. That shouldn’t happen.
