A common design problem I'm looking to answer:
If you focus on Aesthetic unlocks with no stat impact you find "your" suit and the other unlocks mean nothing.
If stats matter then you're minmaxing ignoring aesthetics.
How do you solve this?

It is an understandable trauma (lol) response to being just straight lied to (see spongebob) and having your precious hobby being taken over and tarnished.
