While tyranny may exert significant power for a time, history shows that it is ultimately vulnerable to the forces of change and the will of the people. Tyranny often relies on fear and oppression, which can only sustain control for so long. Resistance grows as people seek freedom and justice.

This is pathetic. The Baba Jukwa page is run by Simba Chikanza. He is fed this nonsense by Nelson Chamisa. That is why he attacks Fadzayi Mahere every time citizens playfully ask her to form a party. Each time I critique Chamisa’s politics, Simba Chikanza is deployed to attack me with lies. Now it is Jameson Timba who is under attack. You have to ask yourself why Nelson Chamisa is attacking Jameson Timba for pushing back against CAB 3, as we heard in the Daily News audio. We are now also seeing these attacks being carried out through his proxies, like Simba Chikanza, using his now discredited social media handles and hiding behind the Baba Jukwa page. The person driving these attacks is Nelson Chamisa. Sadly, some people who are neither politically conscious nor politically sophisticated still blindly follow this political fraud who emerges each time citizens begin organising seriously against Emmerson Mnangagwa’s CAB 3, only to sow confusion and division. Chamisa personally tells people in private that individuals like Fadzayi Mahere are ZANUPF plants. It is the same modus operandi he is now using against Jameson Timba through pathetic proxies like Simba Chikanza and the Baba Jukwa page. Instead of hiding behind proxies and smear campaigns, he should openly support CAB 3 if that is where he stands politically, rather than attacking people who are actively resisting the violation of the constitution and pushing back against attempts to undermine Zimbabwe’s democratic framework. What is disturbing is the pattern. Every time citizens begin organising seriously against Emmerson Mnangagwa’s unconstitutional power ambitions, confusion, division and character assassination suddenly emerge from the same political circles. Zimbabweans must start asking hard questions about who truly benefits from these attacks.

I appreciate that you recognize the range of perspectives on the proposed amendments. We are human, inevitably we approach laws with our own assumptions, values, and cognitive biases. Interpretation of the law is never perfectly objective. Even judges trained to apply statutes “as written” bring frameworks, originalism, textualism, purposivism, etc, that influence what they see in the text. Bias doesn’t just affect interpretation, it affects enforcement. Two people can break the same law and receive very different outcomes depending on who applies it and in what social context. Statutes themselves are not created in a vacuum. They’re compromises shaped by political pressures, cultural norms, and the values of those who write them. So even the framework reflects some set of beliefs, though ideally filtered through collective processes rather than one individual’s preferences. My point: when people read laws as expressions of personal ideology rather than as structured tools, they risk twisting them into something the legal system didn’t intend. The challenge is that humans can’t entirely escape subjective interpretation, so the legal system builds procedures, precedents, and review mechanisms to reduce that drift as much as possible, reason why the consultation process is happening. Ultimately, whatever interpretations are put forward, the guiding principle should remain the same: respect the spirit of the law. The legislative intent behind the term limit provisions was to prevent manipulation of the Constitution by any incumbent. No matter how individuals may personally seek to interpret the text, that foundational purpose should remain the anchor of constitutional debate.

I DON’T AGREE WITH THE ZCC SUBMISSION; I DON’T HAVE TO, ANYMORE THAN THEY HAVE TO AGREE WITH MINE!! AND THAT’S THE POINT: THE PARLIAMENTARY CONSULTATIVE PROCESS IS MEANT TO GET VIEWS FROM THE PUBLIC, BOTH FOR AND AGAINST!!! IN THE END, PARLIAMENT WILL SIFT THROUGH, EVALUATE AND SHARE WITH US THE WEIGHTING OF PUBLIC OPINION. NOT THIS HAUGHTY BELIEF THAT ONLY ONE VIEW - THE VIEW OF THOSE OPPOSED - IS WHAT IS RIGHT AND MEANT TO PREVAIL!!!!!
Zimbabwe Council of Churches@zccinzim

Today, the 13th of April 2026, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) formally submitted its Statement of Inputs to Parliament on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment Bill No. 3 (2026). The ZCC, representing 32 member denominations with a reach of at least 3 million citizens, opposes the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment Bill No. 3 (2026) because of the potential harm it causes to the nation and the legacy of our current President. The ZCC, acting as a Watchman (Ezekiel 3:17) a role that compels the Church to speak when it sees the nation walking toward harm and after prayerful reflection and stakeholder consultation: Our general recommendations are as follows 1.Withdraw or substantially revise the Bill: The amendments in their current form are constitutionally, morally, and democratically compromised. 2.Establish an Independent Constitution Amendment Commission: Amendments of this nature require a dedicated, independent commission mandated to undertake broad, meaningful consultations rooted in the will of the people, free from the conflict of interest that arises when the institutions advancing the Bill are its direct beneficiaries. 3.If the Bill proceeds in its current form, a national referendum is mandatory: The Bill fundamentally alters the 2013 Constitution and provides for term extensions benefiting current incumbents. This requires direct citizen consent - not parliamentary approval by those who benefit from it. #ConversationsOfHope

WATCH | The young man who created an artwork resembling Wicknell Chivayo, and later claimed he spent US$10,000 to produce it, has apologised for some of the remarks he made during a recent interview. Reports suggest that he became aware that Chivayo was unhappy with his comments, prompting him to issue a public apology in an attempt to smooth things over. In addition to the apology, the young man also went a step further and directly asked Chivayo to gift him a car.

It is amazing, and a little heartbreaking, how love can feel like currency in one story and a gift in another. Sometimes we pay. Sometimes we receive. And sometimes, life surprises us with a love that doesn’t demand anything back. Someone, somewhere probably enjoyed or enjoys nhengi iyeye without having to pay anything. You can write endless paragraphs to defend your biased stance, but as someone who knows better, you understand this fundamental truth: A constitution holds its legitimacy only when those in power treat its provisions as binding limits, not as instruments for advancing personal or ideological agendas. The term‑limit clause, in particular, exists to stop incumbents from securing their own hold on power. Even when the language can be interpreted in different ways, the intent and purpose behind the provision should guide any constitutional interpretation. Respect the spirit of the law!!

Minister Masuka was appointed to government as a technocrat, a role that should not be conflated with a fundamental allegiance to ZANU-PF. He may as well not be a supporter or believer in the ZANU-PF doctrine. His selection by the President was predicated exclusively on his technical expertise. However, his blatant disregard for the signatures of party leaders on the various land committees, such as the Lands Allocation Committee and the Provincial Lands Committee, constitutes a profound betrayal of his true character, which should awaken the party to his true position as a technocrat and not a party cadre. In his capacity as Lands Minister, he presided over a system that favoured only those who could pay money before being allocated. He would receive Land Schedules from Provinces, only to modify them unilaterally in red ink, an egregious violation of protocol! As a former Mash West Provincial Chairperson, I can attest that no schedule would have been permitted to proceed by the then-Governor Fabian Edmond Chidarikire without my endorsement. Yet, Masuka operated with reckless disregard, facilitating agreements based on unsigned documentation. Consequently, numerous party members who had been allocated land found themselves dispossessed. This dire situation underscores the urgent necessity for a comprehensive Land Audit, particularly in Mash West, where many youths who had been granted land lost it following criminal collusion between Masuka and Marian Chombo to establish a completely new Land Schedule. One could argue that the Minister has effectively reversed the Land Reform through his unscrupulous actions. The sanctity of land in this nation is spiritual; it should not be commodified for selfish gain. An inquiry into his numerous Offer Letters is imperative, and the new Minister of Lands, Hon Haritatos, must undertake a thorough cleansing of the system to weed out all the shady deals by his predecessor. Moreover, numerous Provincial Ministers were complicit in these dealings with Minister Masuka. It is vital for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to pursue these allegations diligently. We have seen social media cases being picked by them for further investigation. Why can’t they do the same with these serious issues? Sadly, both entities are significantly compromised, rendering them ineffective. Even the Joint Operations Command (JOC) has similarly lost its credibility and is no longer reliable. If the very institutions meant to safeguard the people are mired in corruption, who then will defend the citizens of Zimbabwe? The appointment of new personnel in these roles is essential; otherwise, we shall see no meaningful change. We stand ready to provide evidence on these matters. The findings concerning Minister Chombo and her network involved in fraudulent rehabilitation permits are well-documented, and decisive action is warranted. This indictment extends to Dr. Martin Rushwaya, who has emerged as one of the most corrupt bureaucrats in our history, shielding similarly corrupt Ministers. His operations now revolve around personal profit, and if a lifestyle audit was conducted on him, he would not pass it. We are voicing our concerns now because the supporters of CAB3 consistently cited the urgent need to combat corruption. This endeavor must commence now.

There are so many reasons why victims may delay to open up: • Fear of losing their job or income • Fear of not being believed, especially if the perpetrator is in a higher position • Lack of witnesses, making victims feel reporting is pointless • Shame, embarrassment, or self blame • Trauma and shock, which can delay the ability to speak about the incident • Fear of damaging their professional reputation • Concern about being judged or stigmatized by coworkers • Not knowing how to report or where to seek help • Fear of rejection by spouse or partner

The untold truth: Uncontrolled growth in production. Before land reform, the tobacco sector relied on regular market research to align production with international demand, ensuring price stability and sector health. Today it’s all about chasing record figures that sooth political egos. The challenges facing the industry stem from a global oversupply of the commodity, especially within the lower-stalk portion of the crop commonly referred to as filler grades. To prevent an imminent crisis, the government must consider paying farmers 100% in USD for their produce.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: It is unthinkable that any rational or patriotic Zimbabwean would reject this core principle: the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF)—like the State itself and every government institution at every level—must uphold the Constitution strictly in accordance with all its provisions. There's no other way. Upholding the supreme law of the land demands total fidelity to all its clauses. Selective obedience is not obedience at all—it is a betrayal of the founding values and principles of the Constitution!
