KRO Vinohrady Caesar salad was small, underdressed & chicken was basic. Bacon cooked long before. For 295 Kč, I expected more & better. The leg/thigh was more moist, flavorful & the mashed potatoes were great. I’m a fan of Kro Vršovice. So far, I’m underwhelmed by Kro Vinohrady

Probably my favorite burger bite of all time and I’ve had the best NYC has to offer. It’s back this week on Výčep’s lunch special menu. 425 Kč, no fries and I don’t care.

Arctic char gravlax, buttermilk, lemon and dill sauce, gin marinated cucumber, trout caviar, marinated daikon at Mazel.

Love Nutella but hate what it’s made of? Here’s a tip: DM’s Bio Crema alle Nocciole is 50% hazelnut vs 13% Nutella. It has around half the palm oil. DM’s is 38% sugar, Nutella is 56-58%. DM’s ingredients are 100% organic and uses real Bourbon vanilla powder, a bit more expensive

Love barbecued eel but hate paying 400 Kč in a restaurant? We buy frozen unagi at Shinfood Korunní, listed on their website for 298 Kč. Not only cheaper than unagi don, you get the whole 250g fish rather than a few slices. Heat up & enjoy sweet, buttery deliciousness over rice

Oops, Bohemian Foodgasm did it again! BBQ pork belly, gherkin-sriracha relish, kimchi on a rohlik.cz bun. Got the pork on sale, paid around 100 Kč for almost a kilo. Home cooking for the win!

I mentioned that I had some nice pork belly down the street and Bohemian Foodgasm was like, “Hold my beer.” 😆 Amazing deliciousness in a bun!

Automat Matuška JzP needs to up their lunch game. Classic sviċkova, 248 Kč. Sauce was delicious, the beef fairly standard. It was barely warm & the portion was small, tiny dumplings. Their killer Korean-style pork belly with kimchi & pickles was a better choice, 229 Kč

Boko Bistro is now open where Casa Nostra used to be. The interior is totally redone. Turkish eggs for breakfast, evening menu is mostly tapas, desserts, coffee, wine & other alcohol. With all the tables outside restaurants & cafes, JzP square has an alfresco buzz these days.

PJ Bistro & Bar opened today at Velehradská 4. I’m cautiously excited as they have a small menu of Asian favorites, classic egg breakfasts and they’re almost neighbors. If anyone else gets there first, let me know.

“Chicken” tacos, avocado, coriander, chipotle mayo, lime, lettuce, red onion. Happy Bean Bistro is vegetarian/vegan so I think the “meat” was fried tempeh or seitan (forgot to ask) but either way, it was crispy & delicious with not-too-sweet BBQ sauce. Sweet potato fries. 295 Kč

Run! Friday is the last day for this lunch-only beauty at Výčep. The flame-grilled smokiness of the dry-aged sirloin brought tears to my eyes. But it plays hard to get. They only do burgers every once in a while on their weekly lunch menu. You never know when it shall come again
