These days, I’m mostly eating in and around Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad in Vinohrady so I’ve decided to narrow the focus of this page. There’s so much going on in this wonderful, vibrant neighborhood, so there will still be plenty of great content and reviews. Stay tuned & hungry!

Bejgl was opened this week on Korunni by a an American sourdough baker. Smoked salmon with cream cheese, red onion, capers, lemon & dill was a winner. Warm pastrami from Amaso with Emmental, pickled red onion & horseradish Dijon . Great sweet stuff and whole loaves, too!

Kebab Master on the corner of Slavikova and JzP Square has been half-built for months. No visible activity or further construction.

PJ Bistro & Bar is coming to the space vacated by NOLA on Velehradská. Anyone know more about it, other than what’s on the notice on the door? They’ve started an IG page instagram.com/pjbistro?igsh=…

This is our favorite musli on Rohlik for 184.90 Kč. You can get the exact same package from dm for 99.00. And here’s a nice tip for you. DM express delivery on their website. Sometimes it’s free and other times 49 Kč, which is negligible if you order a few other things.

@Bejk_kolenatej @CzechPlease @rohlikcz Asi jo. Taky hlavně nakupuju na Rohlíku privátky a pak nějaký luxus, hlavně maso, to supermarketu už neriskuji. Ale ještě musím odkloňovat do Alzy nebo Billy. Drogerii, ořechy, ovoce, zeleninu.

But either way, here are the two products on the manufacturer’s website. They have the same price there. There’s a little difference between the two with low carbs.

Cafefin’s panang curry with chicken & cashews was super coconut creamy, a big portion, but wished for bolder seasoning, 297 Kč. Korean chicken bowl came out almost too quickly. Fried chunks over rice were crispy, sweet & tangy, but not as tender or juicy inside as hoped, 298 Kč

Guilty Pleasure Diner in P6. Classic Cheeseburger, well-melted cheddar, pickles, onions, tons of ketchup, 159 Kč. Didn’t love the bun — too bready on top. BBQ pork ribs majorly meaty, with sweet homemade sauce. Made two more meals out it at home. So it was a bargain at 329 Kč

KRO Vinohrady is (soft) open on JzP square.

Flour power at Le Caveau

At Cafefin, creamy egg scramble on a croissant, great guac inside had a heavenly hard squeeze of lime, studded with diced bacon and sprinkled with feta, 287 Kč. Passion fruit lemonade was perfectly prepared with plenty of pulp. The place is always packed and I can understand why.

At Blumery, fab fried chicken sandwich marinated in sriracha on sliced brioche, pickled cucumbers & radish. The chicken & chili oil was tender, juicy. They went heavy on the ranch dressing. I prefer to pick up sandwiches but it was so messy, should have gone knife & fork, 285 Kč

The old Kro is dead. The new Kro arises.

Menu for the new KRO Vinohrady on JzP square. Looks like they will open any day now.

Mr. Hotdog’s Southwest Dog, a pork sausage from Big Smokers, 125 Kč. I added mustard & relish. Beautiful Fries with caramelized onion & bacon, Monterey Jack, plus Louisiana rémoulade, 269 Kč. Couldn’t resist the bacon cheese sliders — I got a messy shot of a business end of one.

Maple pecan & dark chocolate babka at home by Bohemian Foodgasm • Despite the decadent ingredients, it felt light, not too rich or too sweet. I ate half a loaf right out of the oven.
