@cricketwyvern @CharlieSansom Welcome to Wales... Just one example. The minimum unit price of alcohol was introduced in 2020. Alcohol specific deaths have increased but the Welsh Government are doubling down and increasing the MUP. When it's ideological the evidence doesn't matter.

@CharlieSansom Good for her. Does anyone really think it is a good idea for courts to judge whether statement made by a politician is "misleading". Sounds like a nightmare to me.

The Welsh Senedd has passed a law making it illegal for politicians to ‘make false or misleading statements of fact to help an election candidate.’ Only one MSP voted against true political integrity. Laura Anne Jones from Reform UK.

@ClarkeMicah Don't forget the role of the SAS in the training of Khmer Rouge fighters in the 1980's. Apparently the brutality of Pol Pot wasn't enough to distract the British Government of the time from supporting the Khmer Rouge.

Egypt murders its own people. Saudi murders its own people. China murders its own people. And we don't care. This is not the real reason for the West's hostilty. We recently helped install an Al Qaeda supporter as dictator of Syria. So we don't care about terror sponsorship either. Stop being so gullible, .@aliceson3272528

@ClarkeMicah @DailyMail I don't agree with you (& I usually do). Iran had it coming, it murders its own people & sponsors terrorism worldwide. I grieve for all innocents caught up but I hope the Iranian people, thanks to the courage of the US & Israel, can soon be free of their terrible rulers.

@ClarkeMicah Well, if you look at the situation in Southern Lebanon at the moment it could be argued that the assassination of Nasrallah hasn't made much of a difference. There is a real battle going on there, that's not being reported by most of the media here in the UK.

I have to say I am interested by how little discussion there has been about the use of assassination in the current war. I suspect it is now considered acceptable.

@cricketwyvern Yes, however the vote gave consent to the legislation in Westminster. If you're against assisted suicide then surely you'd vote against legislation that brings it closer or would make it more available. This article explains it better than myself bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@D1Bluebird Wales didn't vote for the assisted suicide bill. The Senedd vote was to agree to devolution aspects of the bill, should it be passed by the House of Commons. It was not a vote on the principle of assisted suicide at all.

I don’t get it. If Hezbollah had flats in this block (unlikely in central Beirut but not impossible) why did the Israelis give everyone inside an hour to get out — including those they wanted to kill? And if there weren’t any Hezbollah people there, why destroy a building with dozens of civilians in it?
The Associated Press@AP

An Israeli airstrike struck an apartment building in central Beirut, on Wednesday. The Israeli army had warned residents to evacuate about an hour before completely flattening it as day broke.

Self confessed Welsh conspiracy theorist says she is going to "hold her nose" and vote Reform. We were out speaking to people in Wales and it really is scary how far down the rabbit hole some people have gone. Man-made climate change is well established scientific fact but a sustained campaign of misinformation by oil companies and irresponsible politicians has deliberately hamstrung our ability to tackle this enormous threat. What's interesting is that she identifies real issues with Wales (health, transport and economy). These are real problems causing real pain. But unless we are debating them from the point of view of facts and evidence it will be really hard to meaningfully tackle them. For more coverage like this about Wales check out the link in the pinned tweet. Big hat tip to the excellent @edcmpbl for asking the questions.

@D1Bluebird @WillHayCardiff China might be building coal power-stations BUT the proportion of green electricity it uses is increasing rapidly, so they are transitioning. They are investing massively in the transition & per person do produce far less co2 than the US etc

Welsh Reform politician the ONLY Senedd Member to vote against a new law stopping politicians from lying. On Tuesday the Senedd passed a new bill which will make it illegal for candidates to lie during Senedd elections. The law means Welsh ministers will make it a criminal offence for future candidates to knowingly make false or misleading statements. It also establishes a recall system that will allow the public to remove a politician from office if they break the rules. Reform’s Laura Anne Jones was the only one who voted against the bill, with 50 MSs backing it. We can find no record of Ms Jones speaking during the debate, even though she was present.

Not enough evidence, yet still they voted to ban it today. I’m 100% pro animals and pro animal welfare but the ban on greyhound racing in Wales is misguided, the sport isn’t cruel and the dogs are well looked after. It’s a sad day as greyhound racing & ‘a night at the dogs’ is part of Britain’s sporting & cultural heritage.

There is a strong argument to be made that if Nigel Farage was PM, we would be bombing Iran right now. The video below shows clearly that Nigel Farage supported joining the US and Israelis to attack Iran at the start of the conflict. While Reform are now trying to distance themselves from the idea, at their Welsh manifesto launch just a 13 days ago, Farage was clear on where he stood. He said was “generally” somebody who was “very, very deeply nervous about getting involved with foreign wars” but that “there is something fundamentally different about Iran”. He then bizarrely links Iran to unfounded accusations of election rigging in the Gorton and Denton byelection where Reform were defeated by the Greens. He said if there was “one big justifiable reason why we should have supported the Americans on day one” that “if this war stops Iran getting a nuclear bomb it will have been worth it.” Just five days after this Mr Farage rowed back saying Britain should “not get ourselves involved in another foreign war”. It is clear from this video that if Nigel Farage was Prime Minister, there is a good chance we would be bombing Iran right now.
