@LogHanRatings Oddly enough, as a 6-2 and 3/4 person, I would always get rounded *down* to 6-2 for football so I would sound more stocky since I was skinny, and rounded up to 6-3 for basketball so they could make me seem taller.

@_AVBSports Why not go best of 3, one at each home venue and the tiebreaker at the neutral site? 😂

Eagles history explains why Jalen Hurts is judged unfairly A lot of the discourse around Jalen Hurts only makes sense if you don’t actually know Eagles history. If you do know it, the takes start sounding ridiculous. Let’s start with something simple. The list of successful Eagles quarterbacks is very short. Pre–Super Bowl era: Tommy Thompson Three straight championship games. Two titles. (1948-1949) Norm Van Brocklin Won the 1960 championship. Beat Lombardi. Super Bowl era: Ron Jaworski Brought relevance back. Super Bowl appearance. Donovan McNabb Five straight playoff appearances. Five NFC title games. Super Bowl appearance. Nick Foles Short run. Historic peak. Delivered the Lombardi. Super Bowl MVP. Jalen Hurts Two Super Bowl appearances. One ring. Super Bowl MVP. Five straight playoff seasons. That’s the list. That’s almost a century of football. Now here’s where perception gets confused. Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick, and Carson Wentz were all incredibly fun to watch. Electric. Explosive. Highlight machines. But combined, the three of them produced one playoff win in Philadelphia. That’s not an insult. It’s context. Eagles history has never rewarded “fun.” It rewards January success. Now contrast that with what people call “bad QB play” today. Under 30 fans think bad means Sub 200 yards Not top five in fantasy Too many checkdowns Not enough highlights That is not bad quarterback play. That is discomfort with style. Actual bad QB play in Philly looked like Pat Ryan Bobby Hoying Mike McMahon Third-and-six feeling impossible Games over by halftime Offenses that couldn’t function That’s bad. The reason Hurts is judged unfairly is simple. Fans under 30 only know the Eagles under Jeffrey Lurie. They grew up with stability. Playoff expectations. Competence. They didn’t live through chaos. They didn’t live through QB roulette. They didn’t live through years where relevance itself felt like success. So when Hurts wins ugly, shrinks games, leans on defense, and still ends up in February, it feels wrong to them. It doesn’t match the aesthetic they expect. But Eagles history doesn’t care about aesthetics. It never has. By historical standards, Hurts isn’t a debate case. He’s already one of the most accomplished quarterbacks this franchise has ever had. You don’t have to call him Mahomes. You don’t have to say he’s perfect. You just have to stop pretending Eagles history says he’s replaceable. Because it doesn’t.

Longtime Philly Mag writer Dan McQuade died on Wednesday. Here, his former editor Brian Howard explains how McQuade was one of the most gifted chroniclers of the Philadelphia experience.   phillymag.com/news/2026/01/2…

The Dan McQuade news is incredibly sad. defector.com/dan-mcquade-19… Incredibly creative and funny writer, who captured Philadelphia's quirks better than anyone. And just a really good dude on top of all that. He will be missed.

I probably should update my website with final 2025 results before doing this, but people are posting their Way Too Early FBS rankings, and I wanted in on the fun, so... WAY TOO EARLY #D3FB 2026 RANKINGS (includes coaching changes, but *not* lost production)

One week since the #TransferPortal has closed, and I wanted to check this morning to see if any of the thousands of remaining football players had signed with a new school. There are still 5,896 active transfers looking for a home. FBS: 1,174 (20%) FCS: 1,544 (26%) D2/D3: 3,178 (54%) The facts: - 11,061 total players entered the portal this 2025-2026 cycle. - 53%, over half, haven’t signed anywhere. - Flip a coin. That’s your chance of finding a spot on a new team for this past cycle. #PortalSZN

There also at least six coordinators who are former #d3fb players, plus two more who coached in D3. Depending on what happens with Todd Monken (Knox) and Brian Daboll (Rochester), that number could grow to 10. I also count 7 NFL GMs with D3 roots.

Dave Canales (Panthers) played for Azusa Pacific from 1999-03; The Cougars went from #naiafb to #d2fb in 2011, shut down football in Dec. 2020, and are bringing it back as a #d3fb in 2026. New Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley spent 2001 coaching RBs at WPI.

For anyone keeping score at home, the Ravens' hiring of Jesse Minter (Mount St. Joseph) makes three former #d3fb players as current NFL head coaches, along with Nick Sirianni (Eagles/Mount Union) and Dan Quinn (Commanders/Salisbury State.)

Smallest of footnotes from the Stagg Bowl aftermath: The national championship brought Matt Walker’s career head coaching record above .500, to 89-88. #d3fb
