Who makes this shit up? Oregon Employers: Court of Appeals Ruling Makes Short Meal Periods Extremely Costly A recent Oregon Court of Appeals decision clarifies that anything less than a full 30-minute uninterrupted meal period is non-compliant under Oregon law. Employers must provide a complete 30-minute meal break — no exceptions for even one minute short. Key Takeaway If an employee’s meal period is 29 minutes or less, the employer owes the employee 30 minutes of pay for that period, regardless of whether the employee returned to work early on their own. Real-World Exposure Example • Employee earns $20/hour. • Takes five non-compliant meal periods in one week (e.g., 28–29 minutes each). • Employer owes 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of additional wages = $50. That $50 can quickly balloon if not paid: Termination or Resignation Risk If the employee quits or is terminated and those meal-period wages remain unpaid: • Waiting time penalties apply: 8 hours of pay per day (based on the employee’s regular rate), for up to 30 days. • In the example above: $20 × 8 × 30 = $4,800 in penalties plus the original $50 owed. These penalties apply even if the underlying unpaid wages are minimal. Practical Implications for Oregon Employers • Clock-in and clock-out records for meal periods must show a full 30 minutes of off-duty time. • Minor deviations (even 1–2 minutes) now carry significant financial risk. • Strong policies, clear communication, and robust time-tracking systems are essential. • Employers should review and update meal period practices immediately. This ruling significantly increases exposure for Oregon businesses, especially those with hourly or non-exempt employees. Even well-intentioned “flexible” lunch practices can now trigger substantial liability. Stay compliant — a minute here or there is no longer “close enough” in Oregon. buchalter.com/insights/watch…

Calling the Constitution abhorrent because it demands color-blind redistricting 😂🤣 SCOTUS correctly struck down Louisiana’s racial gerrymander…. no more drawing districts by skin color to guarantee outcomes. Equal Protection Clause isn’t optional. One person, one vote. The Voting Rights Act doesn’t override the 14th Amendment.

On top of this...Washington's anti-business climate is being blamed for our new ferries being built in Florida, when we have shipyards right here at home. You’ve been in office 25 years voting for trillions in spending, the Inflation Reduction Act, and energy policies that spiked costs across the board. Grocery prices are up 30% since 2019 thanks to inflation, regs, and zoning that block new stores, not just private covenants. Fix the government barriers you helped build before lecturing FTC

I’m concerned that decreased grocery store competition in local communities is raising food prices. Anti-competitive land restrictions can prevent new grocery stores from moving in. My letter to the FTC:

Congrats, @AGOWA you just made foreign goods cheaper while gutting American workers and factories 👍. Washington consumers will benefit with more cheap junk and fewer paychecks. Real leadership isn’t cheering the court that screwed your own state’s industries. Tariffs weren’t the enemy, economic illiteracy is!

Nice photo op in that lush, fuel heavy undergrowth 😂. Those dense grasses, shrubs, and ladder fuels are why wildfires explode! Prescribed burns would clear it out dramatically and protect forests…. too bad you’ve blocked Trump’s efforts to repeal the Roadless Rule for better fire access roads while doing your restoration/landscaping tours.

@WAPolicyGreen The gas conversion is still just a plan… no permits have been issued yet. It’s not switching to gas today. That’s why reliability concerns around keeping unit 2 available matter right now.

A recent analysis shows that the Northwest is already facing a shortage of electricity and that it is growing rapidly. The Centralia plant is switching to natural gas, so keeping it as a coal-plant doesn't impact the energy shortfall by the end of the decade. It just adds cost. I understand the argument for the federal order but in Washington state it is likely to increase costs for no benefit - and we've already got enough things increasing electricity costs as it is. 2/2

The order by the Trump Administration to re-open the Centralia coal plant was needless and expensive. It doesn't meaningfully improve energy reliability. But the effort by green groups and the @AGOWA to downplay reliability risks is also wrong... 1/2 #waleg

You mean like when the CDC quietly changed the definition of “vaccine” in 2021 because the mRNA shots didn’t stop infection or transmission like traditional vaccines? Or when officials suppressed lab leak discussion, natural immunity data, and myocarditis signals in young men for years? Or when “safe and effective” was repeated while efficacy waned, boosters were pushed on low risk groups, and adverse event systems like VAERS lit up?

Are you retarded? Your cherry picked headlines show investors chasing clean power amid the chaos you helped create with decades of anti fossil fuel activism in WA. America’s grid faces rising blackout risks from premature coal and gas retirements and intermittent renewables that can’t deliver when demand (AI, manufacturing) explodes. Electricity prices are up 9% YoY, with residential hitting records!!! Trump’s unleashing domestic production for reliability while liberal governors blame him for a war induced shock while pushing for the same unreliable mix that got us here

The federal government finally applying basic scientific standards, broad safety claims must be supported by the actual data is now disturbing? 🤡 If your West Coast Health Alliance is the new gold standard for science, why hide behind selective outrage instead of debating the studies openly? Preprints are public!! Rare side effects were confirmed as rare. Pulling overhyped conclusions isn’t suppression…. it’s integrity. Blue states forming their own vaccine ministry because they lost the federal narrative is peak democrat clown show.

Courts enforcing basic FDA safeguards aren’t extremist! 🤡 Mifepristone is used in 63% of abortions. A 2025 EPPC study of 865k+ claims, found 11% had serious adverse events (ER visits, hemorrhage, surgery) that’s 22x the FDA’s trial claims. In-person visits catch ectopics, confirm dating, and protect women. This shouldn’t be an issue.

The Fifth Circuit's ruling to limit access to medication abortion was a political decision by a few extremist judges. SCOTUS paused that ruling—now Congressional Democrats are arguing what the science always made clear: mifepristone is safe & effective.

The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily restored broad access to mifepristone, following an unscientific and unlawful decision by a lower federal court that would have imposed medically unnecessary restrictions nationwide — including in states where abortion is legal. The lower court’s disturbing decision threatens to curtail access to abortion care by telehealth, which is used in over a quarter of abortions here in Washington state. The Supreme Court should ensure that access to this safe, effective medication continues. As Attorney General, I challenged the federal government's restrictions on mifepristone in court. We protected access after a radical attempt from a Texas judge to overturn the FDA's approval of mifepristone and decimate access nationwide. Attacks on reproductive freedom are not new, and there will be more. In Washington, we will always stand up for reproductive health care.

Your AI bills aren’t “common sense” they’re regulatory overreach!! Forcing chatbots to snitch on suicidal thoughts turns AI into government surveillance. Mandating detection tools and watermarks creates bureaucracy that smothers innovation. Criminalizing “harmful” AI images stifles free speech and art while bad actors ignore the law anyway. Washington doesn’t need more red tape. It needs builders, not barriers.

AI is a technology with a lot of potential for our state. Like any new technology, we have to be mindful of potential consequences, so I'm proud Washington state is leading on common sense regulation with several bills I signed this year. I requested a bill this session to require AI companion chatbots like ChatGPT to implement protocols to detect and respond when an individual expresses thoughts of suicide or harming themselves. That's now law. It's challenging to determine what's made with AI. I signed a law requiring major AI companies to provide a commercially and technically reasonable way for Washingtonians to determine whether content was created or modified using artificial intelligence. I also signed laws restricting harmful uses of AI-generated images, including deceptive and nonconsensual deepfakes, and making it a crime to possess or distribute computer-generated images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Washington is a leader in protecting young people from the harmful effects of AI.

Decades of your party’s hands off policies turned forests into tinderboxes full of dead fuel. Real resilience means thinning, logging, grazing, and prescribed burns…. not more bureaucracy, lawsuits blocking active management, or BLAMING weather while acres burn. Washington forests don’t need more meetings. They need chainsaws and common sense. Trump’s fixing what democrats broke.
